Authentic Italian Cuisine at ROSSO, Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta

ROSSO is a restaurant which offers lots of authentic and sensational Italian Cuisine at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. Most of the decoration are colored with Red because Rosso itself means “Red” in Italian. It represents passion, warmth and elegance. Ketika masuk ke dalam restorannya, kita akan menemukan area restoran yang cukup luas dimana semua area makan tertata rapi dan sebagian besar area makan didominasi dengan sofa cantik minimalis nan elegan berwarna merah. Lovely! Restoran ROSSO juga pernah mendapat sebuah penghargaan dari Now! Jakarta sebagai “The Best Restaurant, Bar and Club Award” pada tahun 2012 lalu.

Banyak terdapat area meja makan yang menghadap sisi jendela dimana kita bisa melihat lampu-lampu cantik dari ketinggian gedung perkantoran di sekitarnya, sehingga pengalaman makan malam di Rosso menjadi semakin romantis dan memberikan kesan tersendiri. Design restoran yang modern dan kontemporer mampu menciptakan atmosfer chic dining experience bagi setiap pengunjungnya. Penerangan yang temaram dan musik Italian easy listening yang diputar membuat suasananya semakin terasa nyaman. Tempatnya cocok sekali untuk bersantai sambil menikmati aneka hidangan masakan Italia dan ditemani oleh aneka koleksi Wine yang disediakan oleh Rosso.

Rosso menyediakan aneka ragam masakan Italia yang authentic dengan menggunakan bahan-bahan segar yang khas Italia. 

Rosso Signature Cocktail : Italiano Hipnotique, IDR 150K 

A combination of Midori Liqueur, Passion Fruit, Fresh Lime, and Sparkling Wine. Taste good and the alcohol is not to strong.

Rosso Signature Mocktail : You And Me, IDR 80K 

I like the combination of fresh Banana, Orange juice and Grenadine syrup in this drink. It tastes so good and so refreshing!

Appetizer : Crudo of Beef Tenderloin, IDR 180K 

Seporsi daging beef tenderloin yang diiris tipis disajikan sebagai salad dengan arugula leaf, diberi keju parmesan, potongan jamur, potongan jeruk berukuran kecil dan diberi taburan biji buah delima (pomegranatte) di atasnya. Arugula leaf is slightly bitter with peppery flavor. Daging beef tenderloin-nya dimasak setengah mentah dan perpaduan semuanya enak sekali.

Beruntung sekali tempat duduk dan meja makan aku berada tepat di depan area open kitchen untuk pembuatan pizza, jadi sambil menikmati appetizer, aku dan beberapa rekan food blogger lainnya bisa menyaksikan atraksi Acrobatic Pizza yang dilakukan oleh salah seorang Chef di Rosso.

Piccante Pizza, IDR 180K – Non Halal 

Inilah pizza pertama yang aku coba pada malam itu. Pizza doughnya memang tidak setebal pizza buatan restoran pizza pada umumnya, tapi aku suka sekali dengan pizza Italia seperti ini yang memiliki ciri khas tekstur renyah, garing dan sedikit menggelembung. Toppingnya pun banyak, ada spicy salami, italian sausage, tomato sauce, chilli flakes, onion, peppers dan mozzarella. Please note that this pizza also contains pork ingredients. 

Picante Pizza

Mascarpone Pizza, IDR 180K – Non Halal 

Variasi pizza kedua adalah Mascarpone Pizza yang berisi topping grilled eggplant, chilli, gorgonzola cheese, mascarpone, pesto, basil, pecorino cheese, cooked ham dan tomato sauceTo be honest, I don’t like eggplant, so I skip this one. Please note that this pizza also contains pork ingredients.

Estiva Pizza, IDR 170K – Halal 

This pizza contains  few big prawns, complete with fresh corn, cream, fresh sliced tomato, arugula and shaved parmesan cheese. The prawns come in pink color and bouncy texture. I like it a lot!

Black Ink Tonnarelli Aglio Olio e Peperoncino, IDR 140K

Seporsi pasta berwarna hitam yang dibuat dari squid ink sauce, diberi kerang, basil dan cherry tomato confit. Pasta ini unik dan rasanya enak. It was slightly salty, and it’s fun to eat because I rarely eat a black pasta like this. It’s become one of my favorite pasta for that night.

Potato and Ricotta Gnocchi, IDR 180K

Pasta yang didominasi dengan warna orange ini juga unik. Bentuk pastanya bulat-bulat kecil dicampur dengan beberapa buah udang berukuran sedang. Saat dimakan pasta ini terasa lembut dan tidak terlalu kenyal, boleh dibilang rasanya mirip seperti sedang makan salah satu jajanan Jakarta yang biasa disebut Cimol. Adanya creamy cognac sauce yang gurih membuat rasa pastanya jadi semakin enak.

Cannelloni, IDR 150K

Cannelloni juga merupakan salah satu jenis pasta unik yang biasanya dibuat dari tepung terigu dan dibentuk seperti pipa kecil. Komposisi isinya bisa berbeda-beda dan yang aku makan ini terdiri dari sayuran bayam, ricotta (keju segar Italia) dan cheese fondant.

Porcini Mushroom Cappuccino, IDR 110K 

Unlike other kind of mushroom soup, you can see there’s a white foam and truffle oil on it. This soup is made from fresh mushroom served with 2 small bread Tuscan Cantuccini, and the taste is so delicious! If you’re a mushroom lovers, you should try this one.

Trilogy of Ravioli, Tortelli, and Cappelleti

It looks similar like dumpling, but actually it’s another kind of pasta filled with meat, cheese, vegetables, warm mozzarella, and tomato.

Lobster Risotto, IDR 250K & Mushroom Risotto, IDR 110K 

Risotto adalah makanan asli Italia dibuat dari beras yang dimasak dengan krim dan biasanya diberi tambahan daging, sayuran, keju, bawang, dan bumbu-bumbu lainnya. I tried these 2 variants of Risotto at Rosso. The first one is the Lobster Risotto with a small lobster meat, and the other one is Mushroom Risotto. Both of them comes in a creamy texture; they are delicious, but I like the Mushroom one the most!

Dessert Pizza : Chocolate Pizza, IDR 265K

If you love pizza and willing to try something unique, then you have to try this dessert pizza! It’s made from a combination of banana, nuts, shaved chocolate, fresh fruit and whipped cream. They put berries and also the 24K gold paper which is edible and safe to eat. Seriously friends, you have to try it by yourself. It’s not an ordinary pizza; it’s sweet, and it’s so delicious! Not only a winning dish, but it was a perfect closing for me that night! 🙂
