[NEW PROMO] Cajun and Creole Now is Back at B.A.T.S Shangri-La

Inilah pertama kali aku berkunjung ke B.A.T.S Shangri-La Jakarta dimana B.A.T.S sedang memiliki promo menu Cajun and Creole yang sangat diminati oleh para pengunjung hingga dimunculkan kembali akhir tahun ini. If you don’t know yet, B.A.T.S. stands for Bar at the Shangri-la. Ketika masuk ke dalam B.A.T.S kita akan merasakan suasana bar yang berbeda daripada bar biasanya. Konsep New York underground bar yang dimiliki oleh B.A.T.S sangat unik, cozy atmosphere and comfortable though all area is a free smoking area. Dekorasi interior banyak didominasi dengan warna gelap seperti kombinasi coklat tua dan hitam, serta terdapat dinding batu bata dan sebagian tembok bergambar karikatur artis New York.

Area bar dipisahkan dengan area makan, sehingga pengunjung yang ingin menikmati makan malam tidak terganggu dengan pengunjung yang hanya sekedar ingin minum-minum sambil menikmati suguhan musik night live entertainment di sana. Selain itu, di area depan terdapat meja billiard yang bisa digunakan oleh pengunjung. B.A.T.S juga pernah meraih penghargaan dari NOW! Jakarta sebagai 1st and 2nd Runner Up Best Live Music Club di Jakarta.

We started with 2 kinds of soup as the appetizers before the main course, here they are : 

Mushroom Soup, IDR 80K

Porsi Sup Jamur B.A.T.S ini ternyata cukup besar, sehingga bisa sharing untuk dimakan 2-3 orang bila tidak ingin terlalu kenyang sebelum menu main course.Menurutku tekstur sup ini sedikit cair kurang creamy tapi jamurnya begitu terasa karena dibuat dari jamur yang freshIt served with a drizzle of cream and bread rolls. It’s low in fat yet rich in flavor, love it!

French Onion Soup, IDR 85K

Sup Bawang ini disajikan unik dengan bread croutons di dalamnya dan melted Swiss Cheese di lapisan atas supnya. It’s another classic soup and is favorite of many including me.

With its long historical root in southern USA, New Orleans’ cuisine once again makes it way back to B.A.T.S. Savor the multi-cultural gourmet delights from the largest city in Louisiana, from Seafood Gumbo, Sausage and Chicken Jambalaya, Creole Shrimp, Cajun Grilled Chicken to the traditional Blackened Tuna with Louisiana’s ‘dirty rice’. 

Cajun Grill Chicken, IDR 130K 

Bagian daging ayam tanpa tulang ini telah dimarinated selama 1-2 hari dengan bumbu rempah Cajun dan disajikan dengan grilled vegetables and roasted sweet potato. The seasoning on the chicken was tasty, bumbunya meresap ke dalam daging dan meskipun daging ayamnya menggunakan bagian dada, tekstur daging masih terasa begitu empuk. It’s one of my favorite dish for that night! Recommended!

Cajun Grilled Chicken

Seafood Gumbo, IDR 90K

Gumbo means “okra”. If there is no okra inside it, it’s not Gumbo. Okra dengan kata lain adalah sayuran berwarna hijau yang biasa disebut dengan Oyong. Okra menjadi bahan dasar utama yang digunakan sebagai pengental sup dalam Seafood Gumbo yang dimasak. Semangkuk besar Gumbo ini berisi oysters, potongan cumi, udang, potongan ikan snapper, seasoning vegetables like onions and bell peppers served with strongly-flavored shrimp stock berwarna merah kecoklatan dengan tekstur kental mirip seperti kuah pada Goulash soup. Seafood Gumbo ini disajikan bersama dengan seporsi nasi putih. The soup itself smells a little bit fishy, but I like the character of this Seafood Gumbo, seafood-y and a little bit spicy. Recommended!

Sausage and Chicken Jambalaya, IDR 90K

Jambalaya is a traditional Louisiana rice, and it’s famous. The one that I had is the Creole Jambalaya (also called “Red Jambalaya”) instead of the Cajun style. This version, the rice is cooked in a tomato sauce included with meat chicken and sausage flavor blend into the rice. Rasa nasinya gurih mirip salsa sauce dengan warna kemerahan berisi potongan daging ayam dan sosis yang cukup besar, big love from me for this menu. Must try!

Blackened Tuna with Dirty Rice, IDR 165K

Spice-coated Tuna pan seared served with Louisiana Cajun Rice. Warna kehitaman pada daging Tuna ini berasal dari penggabungan beberapa bumbu seperti Cajun spices, garlic powder, chilli powder, onion powder, dan herbs yang kemudian ikan Tuna dipanggang sehingga tampilan luarnya pun berwarna hitam gelap tampak seperti bongkahan kayu. Tekstur lapisan luarnya crispy namun daging di dalamnya dimasak dengan tingkat kematangan medium. Sedangkan Dirty Rice itu sendiri mirip seperti nasi goreng namun diberi daging bacon dan minced meat (daging cincang) di dalamnya. Rasa pada nasi ini sudah gurih sedikit asin pas sekali dimakan dengan ikan Tuna yang telah dibumbui. Recommended!

Creole Shrimp, IDR 195K 

Fresh king prawn dipanggang dan disajikan dengan Mango-Creole sauce. Ukuran udangnya besar, enak sekali ketika dimakan bersama dengan saus berisi potongan mangga yang telah dibumbui dan dimakan bersama dengan seporsi kecil salad yang telah disediakan. Recommended!

B.A.T.S – 17 inch Pizza (48 cm), IDR 190K 

Pizza di B.A.T.S sangat unik karena tersedia dalam ukuran yang tidak biasanya, karena itu aku sangat merekomendasikan teman-teman funfoodiers untuk segera mencobanya! Ukuran pizza tersedia dalam 2 ukuran besar, antara 10 inch Pizza (26 cm) dan 17 inch Pizza (48 cm). Saat itu kami mencoba Pizza berukuran 48 cm (17 inch) dan karena bingung hendak memilih topping yang mana, akhirnya kami memesan Pizza dengan semua topping yang ada. This Pizza has become so popular in B.A.T.S because it’s the biggest pizza ever in J-Town, and it’s so delicious! Thin crispy Pizza with generous toppings such as feta cheese, bell peppers, beef pepperoni, mussels, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, peppered pork ham, onions, shrimps, and everything else. I’m in love with this! Must try!

Baked Chocolate Brownies is a must try dessert when you visit B.A.T.S. It looks so simple, served with chocolate ice cream and the taste is amazing. The dense, moist and fudge texture made me fall in love with it!

I had lots of delicious Louisiana cuisine at B.A.T.S and really enjoyed everything! Thank you so much B.A.T.S and Shangri-La Jakarta for the wonderful food on last Thursday. I must say that B.A.T.S is not an ordinary bar because they offer a unique quality of food and service. So my friends, if you’re curious about these Cajun and Creole things, better hurry up visit B.A.T.S before the promo ends by the end of November 2013.
