[SINGAPORE] Peranakan Food at Heavenly Wang, Changi Airport

Feeling hungry at Changi Airport, Singapore? Then you can try Peranakan Food at a nice cafe named Heavenly Wang, located near Terminal 2 Skytrain Station, Changi Airport. I was here last December 22, 2013 just to have a light dinner with my husband. Heavenly Wang is the all-day local dining cafe under brand Wang Café, one of the many pioneer kopi toast local cafés established in 1953. This cafe offers the same great taste of Wang Café’s signature kopi and toast but with a halal range of food & beverage coupled with traditional bakery delights.

Biscuit wall is one of their trademark where they display their biscuits on the large tins. Wooden booth seats and vintage gate grills add nostalgia of its humble beginnings in the 50s.Ambience Heavenly Wang Changi AirportHeavenly Wang serves traditional kaya toasts, aromatic cups of coffee to some of Singapore’s local dishes such as Mee Rebus, Mee Siam, Curry Chicken, Laksa, etc. I tried some of them, a package of Laksa Set with Kaya Toast and Coffee cost $6.5 SGD and Curry Chicken cost $6 SGD.

I liked the way they use brown sliced bread and toasted it the traditional way – over piping hot grills to give the crispy texture and fragrance. This Kaya toasted bread is served with a choice of hot beverage, either hot coffee or hot tea. For the drink, I choose the signature Hot Coffee made from full-bodied coffee brew crafted from Wang’s unique blend of traditional Singapore Coffee roast beans, sweetened with milk. Their signature Kaya spread is also famous and tastes really good! Recommended!

Curry Laksa

Curry Laksa is one of the Singapore‘s favourite local food; a merger of Chinese and Malay culture. Springy rice noodles served with Wang’s spicy coconut curry broth, tau pok (deep fried tofu), fish cake, hard-boiled egg, bean sprout and garnished with Laksa leaves. The spiciness of the chilli and fragrance of spices from the thick curry soup never fails to satisfy my appetite. Delicious!

Chicken Curry

Chicken Curry is also Heavenly Wang‘s favorite menu. Tender chicken drumstick and large potato chunks served with Wang’s flavourful Nonya curry, garnished with curry leaves and a choice of fragrant rice or crispy bread loaf. I enjoyed the yellow curry which smells good, tastes spicy and a little bit sweet. Recommended!

Overall, I had a pleasant dining experience in this cafe. The quality of the food is good, and the prices are reasonable for an airport. The staffs are very friendly and efficient. So, for those who wants to enjoy good quality and delicious food at affordable prices amidst the cozy ambience of a local café, you should visit Heavenly Wang. Have a pleasant day all! 🙂
