[TAIWAN] Where to Eat in XiMenDing Night Market, Taiwan

Where to eat in Ximending Night Market, Taiwan..? Hot Star Chicken, Pork Sausage, Corn and Cheese Baked Potato, Papaya Milk and Popiah Ice Cream are all the food that you should try when you go there. Whenever I travel, FOOD is my main priority so off we went hunting for some delicious Taiwan street snacks at Ximending area. Ximending has been called the “Harajuku of Taipei and the Shibuya of Taipei.” It is also the source of Taiwan‘s fashion, subculture, and Japanese culture. That’s why Ximending is also known as a popular shopping district for young people in Taipei City, Taiwan.

First Destination: Corn and Cheese Baked Potato, NT $65

A lot of people were queuing for it, and I was so tempted to try it. Baked Potato with Corn and Slices Smoked Beef toppings with lots of Cheese sauce on top. It was so damn DELICIOUS especially when it’s still hot! SUPERB!

Second Destination: Chili BBQ Pork Sausage, NT $100 (3 pics)

This station was also packed with queueing people. There are three spiciness level that you can choose: More Spicy, Less Spicy or Not Spicy at all. With my bad Mandarin skills, finally they understood that I wanted a Less Spicy taste for the Pork Sausage! Hahaha.. I loved how they grilled the pork sausage so perfectly. It tastes juicy, savory, sweet and a little bit spicy. Must try!

Third Destination: Hot Star Large Fried Chicken NT $55 and Papaya Milk NT $50 (after discount)

Hot Star is the famous Street Food Chicken in Taiwan. I ordered the famous Large Fried Chicken and Papaya Milk with NT$5 discounted after meal purchase. There was a long queue, so I had to wait for 15-20 minutes. I was surprised the chicken cutlet is enormous, almost the size of my face! It was piping hot, juicy, tender and flavored with BBQ, salt and pepper seasoning. Must try! The papaya milk is quite nice too! It tastes good and refreshing!

Last Destination: Popiah Ice Cream, NT $40

I also tried something unique before we come back to our room. This ice cream is served on a couch made of caramelized peanut butter block that is rolled with a skin of popiah. It was really good! Must try!

    • Yes, exactly! It’s located along Hanzhong Street, right accross the big Rainbow Hotel building, at a major intersection. On top of the hotel, there is also a shop or restaurant called 399 labeled with orange color.
