I’ve heard about this Modern Toilet Cafe from a friend and went crazy to find out. This cafe is located in Ximending, Taiwan, nearby from our hostel. It has a very interesting concept, and the whole Toilet themed inside the restaurant gave us a very unique experience. I went there for lunch with my husband, Andy, the writer of happytravelista.com and had a bunch of laughs and some nice photos. Hahaha.. It was fun looking around at the toilet decor inside the cafe. It felt a little bit weird sitting on the toilet bowl and eating from a table fashioned from a bath tub. Then I realized that this was one of the popular spots for lunch or dinner in Taiwan as we had to wait about 30 minutes before we were seated.
We took a lot of pictures while waiting for our seats to be ready. The “Fake Poo” are everywhere, lol… 😀
See how creative they are, even the washbasin is made from the toilet bowl. We can’t stop laughing when we were there!
There is a minimum spending per head of NT$ 80. So, for example, if you dine in for 2 persons, means the minimum spend is NT$ 160. However, I’m not worried as for the food itself starts from NT$ 200, while, for the snacks, it starts from NT$ 80, Ice shavings and Drinks start from NT$ 100.
Modern Toilet Signature Hot Pot (Beef), NT$ 290

Signature Chicken Curry Au Gratin Penne Pasta, NT$ 250
A simple penne pasta served with slices of chicken meat and topped with Parmesan cheese. If you don’t like pasta, you can opt in rice at the same price. Recommended!
Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, NT$ 120
These fried mozzarella sticks were good. They served it with 2 kinds of dipping sauce, plum and chili sauce.
Free Soup of the Day
Chocolate Milk Ice Cream – Free
This ice cream is just an ordinary ice cream cone mixed between chocolate and vanilla ice cream. What makes it fun is because they served it on the mini toilets, hahaha..

This is one of the Ice Shavings where most of the customers ordered in this cafe. I don’t know how about the taste, but it comes with a big portion and cost around NT$ 100.
This place is surely interesting for first comers. People will mostly come here to experience sitting on the toilet while eating food on a plate in the form of the toilet bowl, etc. You can even have your drink in a urinal, and if you want, you can bring the urinal home at an additional price. I expected the worst because of all the negative reviews on the internet, but from my experience, the food wasn’t bad either, and I must say that their service sucked! They‘re not friendly at all, especially to foreigners. However, it was a fun place to go, but it‘s not a place I plan to return to. The price is slightly expensive, but worth a try in a lifetime.
