[JAPAN] Takeout Bento Lunch from Honke Kamadoya, Osaka

I accidentally discovered Honke-Kamadoya outlet while walking towards Kaiyukan Aquarium in Osaka, Japan. This place is quite small and adjacent to a small shop that sells Japanese traditional clothes. You will easily find it when walking to the Kaiyukan Aquarium like I was two weeks ago in Osaka. Honke-Kamadoya apparently is a takeout lunch food brand that has been around since 1980. They offer a wide variety of Lunch Bento to take away for workers and anyone who passes by the store.

Among the many tantalizing menu options, I tried one of them, Ozeki’s Lunch for ¥570 (equal to Rp.65.800,– when my conversion rate is 1¥ = 115.50) after tax. It took only 10 minutes to get the food ready, and they are served in a Bento set as shown. On this Ozeki’s Lunch set, I’ve got one piece of Pork Katsu, two pieces of Chicken Karaage, and some Potato Croquettes served with mashed potato and salad.

Ozeki’s Lunch, ¥570 nett

The Pork Katsu and Chicken Karaage are so dense, almost without fat. The outer layer is so crispy, and everything is delicious, especially when eaten with the sauce provided. I loved the sauce and asked for more to the seller. But apparently I was charged extra ¥30 for it. But that’s okay, because the sauce was delicious!

Overall, the food was great, and it’s a pretty good value. The ingredients were fresh, and everything is freshly made by order. Not only the food has a good taste, but they also offer “the fun to choose,” the menu full of seasonal using seasonal ingredients. I would personally recommend you to pay a visit to Honke Kamadoya when you’re on your way to Kaiyukan Aquarium, Osaka, Japan. Pssst, for Muslims, do not worry because they also have some Halal menus, for example Sweet and Sour Chicken Lunch, Eel Bento Lunch, Sirloin Steak Lunch, BBQ Fried Shrimp Lunch, Salmon Lunch, Karaage Lunch, etc. Interesting, right? 🙂

All the menu comes only in Japanese language. You can easily point out to the menu that you’d like to order or simply read the Katakana or Kanji words from the menu.
