[JAPAN TIPS] Travel Itinerary 2 Weeks Backpacking Japan Guide

Travel Itinerary Backpacking Guide for two weeks in Japan, which cover Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo and Yokohama

Hi everyone, I just came back from Japan this afternoon. I want to share our Travel Itinerary Backpacking for two weeks in Japan, which cover Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo and Yokohama before I forget everything because tomorrow I’ll be going back to work a.k.a back to reality and all the routines, Hahaha… You know what? I always thought that it’s so expensive to travel to Japan. But when I was there, it turns out the cost of food is not as expensive as what I thought. I found lots of delicious and affordable places to eat. Of course, we can do it because we’ve made a COMPLETE RESEARCH through the Internet before going there. Not only transportation, but also the accommodation, the attractions and places to eat. I got lots of good references from another blogger in Japan, and from some other travelers who had been to Japan.

I will also share with you many easy tips on buying a train ticket, riding a bicycle around Kyoto, easy way to buy food or drinks in vending machines, budget traveling around Japan and many other things. Here I will write a quick summary of many places, restaurants, and street food that we have visited from this #myfunfoodiaryjapan and #happytravelistajapan trip, so you can easily click on the link below to read more about it. In the meantime, I’m just going to share the big picture from our Japan trip, and the review of each place will available later. Happy reading, friends! πŸ™‚

Pocket WIFI rent from HIS Travel by Myfunfoodiary

TRAVEL JAPAN TIPS:Β <— Click Here to Read More!

  1. Should I buy a Sim Card when in Japan, or Rent a Mobile WIFI? If you want to save money, it’s okay not to rent a WIFI. As long as you prepared your itinerary wisely and you can save the map earlier before you leave your hotel. Use the Hotel WIFI to save Bus/Train Route, location map, etc. That’s exactly what we did on our FIRST Japan trip last year 2014. OR… You can rent a mobile WIFI just like we did on our SECOND trip to Japan this July 2015. We rent a mobile WIFI (also known as MIFI) from Jakarta for only Rp. 730.000,– we got 7 GB Internet Data for 2 weeks in Japan, it’s more than enough and it was pretty cheap!! So, if you’re looking to rent a PORTABLE WIFI device for use within Japan, just rent from Jakarta. Just go to HIS TRAVEL Office at AEON Mall (BSD – Serpong, phone number: 021. 29168351) or MidPlaza 1 at Sudirman (Jakarta, phone number: 021. 57952059)

  2. Hi!
My wife and I are planning a backpack trip to Japan for 2 weeks. Can you please tell me what is the grand total per person you have spent on your trip? Please list the total in Yen or in USD including flights, foods, accommodations, transportation, attractions etc. We wanted to visit Hokkaido too but not sure if there is enough time cause it is far away from other major cities. Can you let me know how many days you stayed in each locations?
    Thank you very much!

Because all of our Japan travel expenses, including flights, foods, accommodation, etc. which you asked, already written entirely in this post. If you have read in the Accommodation section of this post, the answer is also there. You will find that we’ve stayed in Osaka for 3D2N, Kyoto 2D1N, and Tokyo for 8D7N.

        • Hallo Tom, thank you… Bilang saja dapat rekomendasi dari Mullie, Ryoji’s friend who was staying there for around 5 days last year. Lokasi ini di daerah Akihabara, atau di Tokyo, bisa coba Kuramae, itu hotel, jadi charge-nya per room. Not too big, yet not too small.. πŸ™‚

  13. Hello!! I just found your blog by chance and I think it has wonderful and thorough explanation about backpacking around Japan. Love to read them all!!

since I’m going to Japan this July 2016 (Lebaran holiday), I definitely need your advice in several matter. I’m planning to spend 1 night in Osaka, 3 nights in Kyoto, and 8 nights in Tokyo. I’ll be travelling with my wife from Surabaya (transit in Kuala Lumpur). There are several things I want to ask if you don’t mind.

    1. I’m considering a guided tour by local Japanese agents, departing from Shinjuku Tokyo. It cost around 10,000 yen per person for 12 hours activities and transportation. I realized you guys didn’t visit Mt. Fuji. Is it because it’s not worth the money? or is it because summer is not the best time to visit it? Or is it difficult to explore Mt.Fuji without joining tour?
    2. I heard about the 3 days Tokyo metro and Toei Line pass (cost around 1,500 yen per person). Have you utilize this during your travel in tokyo? If yes, where can I get it?
    3. Definitely going to both Disneyland parks in tokyo, but still wondering if Osaka Universal Studio is still worth a visit (I’m not a big fan of Harry Potter).
    4. Have you tried voluntary guided tour by local Japanese during your stay? If yes, how was the experience?
    5. And lastly, did you guys find lockers in train station easily? Some of my itineraries will require me to bring along bulky suitcase before able to do hotel check in. especially when taking overnight willer express from Kyoto straight to Tokyo Disneyland.

I apologize if I asked a lot of question.
