[JAPAN] Summer Funtastic – Happiness is Here at Tokyo Disneyland

I’ve been to Hongkong Disneyland with my husband and his mom back then in August 2011. And this year; we visited Tokyo Disneyland because God gave us a chance to travel to Japan. Pssst, this post has stayed in the draft since last Nov, now it’s about time for me to finish what I’ve started ‘coz I do have much time while having a long holiday until Jan 5, 2015, wohooo! Yeah anyway, we both paid everything from our savings, but we managed to press the budget wisely. Hongkong Disneyland was my very first Disney experience and finally, one of my dreams comes true! I was so excited for Tokyo Disneyland since it was my first time in Japan, and it was the second time for my husband. He went there with his family since a long time ago, before we knew each other. God is good! His big sister and little brother got a scholarship to study in Japan and from them, my husband knows Japanese speaking and reading skill (both Hiragana and Katakana). Even though he isn’t fluently like his sister and brother, but he still can read and speaks some of the Japanese language, even better than me. Ha-ha..

11.40am: when moving towards the Oedo Line, we stumbled with the famous and biggest Gyudon (Beef Bowl) restaurant chain in Japan, named Sukiya Restaurant that is open for 24 hours. This restaurant is located adjacent to the McDonald Restaurant; which is also open for 24 hours. We were both so happy and left the restaurant with a full stomach because the food tasted delicious, low prices for big portions. Click HERE to find out more about SUKIYA Japan.

12.50pm: From Oedo Line to Tokyo Disneyland,

  1. Transfer via Tsukishima.
  2. Take Yurakucho Line, stop at Shin-Kiba station.
  3. At Shin-Kiba station, take JR Keiyo Line #1 to Maihama, Soga.
  4. Stop at Maihama, Soga > you have reached Tokyo Disney Resort

When we arrived at Tokyo Disney Resort located at Maihama Station, we continue left to the Disney Resort Gateway Station. In here, there is a monorail that circles Tokyo Disney Resort, providing transportation between JR Maihama Station and major destinations within the Resort (Tokyo Disneyland Station, Bayside Station and Disney Sea Station). We should buy a Monorail Ticket cost for ¥260 (single ticket – adult) to reach the Tokyo Disneyland itself. But since we had the PASMO and SUICA IC card, we skip this part and simply touch our PASMO/SUICA Card to a sensor panel on the ticket gate and go through it.

FYI, 1-Day Passport cost ¥6.400 per person (adults). Buying a single ticket for two different parks (Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea) cost you ¥12.800. That’s why it’s easier to buy a 2-Day Passport, where we can enjoy one Park the first day and the other Park the following day. 2-Day Passport costs from ¥11.000 per person (adults) so that’s means in total we spent ¥22.000 for two persons for 2-Day Passport. This way is cheaper than buying a single ticket for two different Themed Park separately.

Woohooo! Hello Dale! I’m a big fan of you!

Starting from this point, I’ll share with you lots of pictures that we took in Tokyo Disneyland. All the attractions were fantastic and interesting, but waiting time could be quite long. It took about 45-60 minutes for one game (attractions) and sometimes more than that. The park itself is very clean, well managed, and even better than Hongkong Disneyland. Sitting area and toilet could be found easily inside the park. Most of the voiceover comes in Japanese, but no worries since there are lots of the signage comes in English.

Look! They also provide a special area to park the baby strollers.

I suggest you to prioritize the rides you really want to do! If you want, you can even get a Disney Fast Pass. It’s a system that lets you minimize the amount of time waiting in line at certain attractions. Some pictures and videos available on this post are for your references.

Western River Railroad – Adventureland Area

We saw the Mark Twain Riverboat pass through the Rivers of America from the calm ride on a steam train that passes through Adventureland, Frontierland, and Critter Country.

Tokyo Disneyland Daytime Parade “Happiness is Here”

Aha! Make sure you don’t miss fun-filled Parade “Happiness is Here” during daytime at Tokyo Disneyland. The parade presents all kinds of happiness where Mickey Mouse and his Disney friends appear in so lovely and colorful rides that passing through visitors. We picked our best spot an hour before the parade started, then we were sitting nicely, watched the parade without a blink, and all of us couldn’t stop smiling when each Disney characters pass by in front of us. It was so wonderful, fun, and full of joy!!

Big Thunder Mountain Rides – Westernland Area

There was something wrong with the Big Thunder Mountain rides after we watched the Parade. The operator said that we could come back again later because the rides was under repair. They didn’t say what’s wrong, but then we found out the problem that they had; the train was stuck in the other side of the mountain. 🙁

Explore the ToonTown

Toon Town is a town where you’ll find yourself in Mickey’s neighborhood, and you never know what crazy things that might happen next in this town. Everyone loves to explore the mini size of Minnie’s house, Roger’s Rabbit Car, Donald’s Boat, Firework’s Factory, Gym, Bank, etc. It was indeed a town full of fun things, almost entirely inspired by a single movie, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and lots of wacky or funny spots to snap pictures, just like we did! 😀

“Once Upon A Time” Projection Lights Mapping on Cinderella Castle

We were fascinated with the projection mapping technology on the Cinderella Castle. It was a heartwarming nighttime entertainment filled with fantasy of the unforgettable scenes from Disney films, such as Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella‘s story. It’s all projected in 3D on the exterior of Cinderella Castle, full with special effects, music and amazing fireworks. It was fantastic!

Grand Circuit Raceway – Tomorrowland area

Test your skills on a small racecar at Grand Circuit Raceway. It was fun, but we still prefer if we can ride the racecar without a dedicated track like the one we experienced in Genting Highland Outdoor Theme Park.

We also watched the electric parade at night before the 3D projection on the Cinderella castle. Everything was fantastic and memorable for us! Therefore, you had to find a place to sit one hour before, to be able enjoy it. There were different popcorn options available inside Tokyo Disneyland, including strawberry, curry, etc. Our favorite rides would be the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and the Space Mountain. We had so much fun that night! Wohoo!
