[KULINER BALI] Nasi Campur Bali at Warung Teges, Ubud, Gianyar – Bali

Sometimes we are confused to decide where to eat while having a vacation in Bali. Last month we stopped by at Warung Teges that is not far from where we were staying, Ubud, Gianyar. Together with our friends, we visited this place to look for a Balinese breakfast. The front side of this place seems less convincing, it looks small and simple. But when we entered into this place, it turns out the place is quite big and nice too. A typical traditional Balinese house with Balinese carving on the door, wood, and even the walls can be seen here. There are lots of big trees in the terrace house which creates a comfortable and natural atmosphere for visitors to sit on the floor (in Indonesia, we called it as “Lesehan”) at any of the big house while enjoying their meal. A dining table and simple wooden chairs are also available there.

It was our first visit to this place and all of us not really sure of what to order. But from what we heard, Nasi Campur Bali is their best-seller dish. So all of us ordered this for our breakfast that morning before leaving Bali and back to Jakarta.

What a great find it was! We loved this dish so much!! This Nasi Campur Bali (Bali Mixed Rice) consist of white rice, a long bean lawar salad (vegetables), pork sausage, grilled pork slices, small fried chicken, satay, boiled egg and served with a lemongrass sambal chili sauce (sambal matah). It was one of the best Nasi Campur Bali we’ve ever tasted! It tasted delicious and made us want to order some more to take home to Jakarta. Ha-ha..

I was too curious and finally find out that Warung Teges has been there for over 40 years. It’s one of the famous traditional Balinese food, served in a traditional way, with a wooden plate layered with banana leaf. I personally recommend you to visit Warung Teges when you’re in Ubud, Bali.
