[NEW MENU] QQCake, Tea Egg, Panda Ice, and Grilled Squid at Blackball Indonesia

The Blackball Taiwanese Dessert House has been existing for almost two years in Indonesia and to welcome the excitement of this; they offer a new concept of Taiwanese dessert and light meals. Blackball has started its business since 2006 and known as one of the biggest dessert chains in Taipei with over 20 outlets and over 15 outlets in Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia. It has become one of my favorite dessert houses, especially for the Taiwan kind of dessert type and until now, Blackball Indonesia already has 22 outlets in other cities in Indonesia. The new interior design and concept of Blackball Indonesia will be available soon in their new outlet.

There are around eight new menus at Blackball Indonesia. Of all these new desserts, QQCake, Grilled Squid, and Panda Ice are my most favorites. The QQcake looks like waffle, but it’s not waffle and surprisingly, it tasted so good! Me and my husband loved the chewy and fluffy texture of this cake. It is available in various flavors and several choices of toppings. Both of us liked the savory version where beef floss and mayo dressing mixed together. If you are a fan of something sweet, try the Ovamaltine version, or if you like sour flavor, you can try the Very Berry QQCake

Taiwan Cold Noodle

Cold Noodle is also popular in Taiwan, part of street food favorites and home dishes in Taiwan. Like its name, it is served cold with slices of chicken breast, paired with crunchy carrot and cool cucumber. It tasted refreshing, ideal for summer weather like the weather in Jakarta.

Grilled Shredded Squid with Mayo Dip

Aha! This one was my favorite too! I always liked grilled squid, and this one served with a mayonnaise dip. Both of us loved the mix of sweet and spicy flavor that comes from it. Crunchy and chewy texture made us addictive!

Sticky Rice Charkwe with Beef Floss

If you’re familiar with Lemper, an Indonesian traditional glutinous rice filled with shredded chicken, well, this dish is similar to that. The presentation similar to sushi rolls, but this sticky rice is filled with crunchy charkwe and beef floss as the topping. A beautiful combination of sweet and savory into one.

Tea Egg

Tea Eggs is also popular and can be found everywhere in Taiwan. I easily found it in many convenience stores in Taiwan when I traveled there last year in 2013. The tea eggs usually come in brown color with a beautiful marble design on the outside. It also has a unique aroma and taste where I thought it might come from the soy mixture with a hint of tea.

Blackball Indonesia also presents three latest dessert creations. The appearance is similar to one another, with a variety of toppings. But among three of them, I liked the Panda Snow Ice better. The combination of toppings such as bubble, Mochi, grass jelly, red bean was really fun. The bottom layer contains green tea shaved ice with a scoop of green tea ice cream on top of it. Ear shape in the form of Oreo cookies makes it look like a panda. Nice and yummy!

For those of you who love desserts, I recommend you to visit Blackball Indonesia. Their grass jelly tastes so good! The smoothness of the grass jelly will make you crave for more. That’s also the reason I keep coming back to Blackball Indonesia and order my favorite menu, Blackball A1.
