WAKUWAKU CAFE as a Japanese-themed cafe wants to bring the real Japanese experience similar to the programs in WAKUWAKU Japan. Here, in WAKUWAKU CAFE, everyone can experience the concept and feel of Japan. The cafe is divided into two sections; the indoor area (non smoking area) and an outdoor area (smoking section). The indoor area is decorated with Sakura flowers, Tatami, and Nodate Umbrella, while at the outdoor area (smoking area) you can find lots of high quality traditional Japanese crafts on a wooden shelf, such as Edo Kiriko and iron craft Nanbu. Not only decorated with a Japanese theme, but their tableware is also using Japan original tableware. That’s cool!

During the opening, they present various kinds of washoku (Japanese food) like Cha-zuke and Chirashi-sushi serves in traditional Japanese tableware (Arita ware, Mino pottery) and lacquer ware (Yamanaka-nuri). Traditional Japanese sweets like Hiyashi Zenzai with typical Japanese tableware are also available.

Tai-Chazuke, IDR 120K

Chef Tahira Wataru from Japan who was also there at WAKUWAKU CAFE, prepared me with a traditional Japanese food called Tai-Chazuke. Slices of marinated tai fish are served over rice. Before we eat the fish, we have to cook them by pouring hot chazuke broth served in a Japanese pot. The Tai fish will turn white, and we added nori, wasabi, and other condiments to give more flavor to it. The taste was really good!

Chirashi Sushi, IDR 150K

Beautiful color combinations of chirashi sushi that consists of a variety of fresh seafood and sliced omelette, topped over seasoned rice vinegar. You cannot find this menu elsewhere in Jakarta. The taste was unique!

Tempura-Chazuke, IDR 120K

Since I’m a fan of tempura, this one has also become my favorite even though the shrimp wasn’t big unlike what I usually eat at another restaurant. However, the serving size is quite filling, and they served it with the hot chazuke broth. Similar to the Tai-Chazuke menu above, where we should pour the broth over the rice. The broth itself has a unique savory flavor. Love it!

There’re lots of interesting activities you can find at the PIAZZA Atrium, Gandaria City during the opening event of WAKUWAKU CAFE, from 28-30 November 2014. Visitors can experience various Japan snacks from Ennichi food stalls and enjoy a live performance by JKT48 located at the PIAZZA Atrium. Besides that, we can collect five stamps from all the games at PIAZZA to get special discount 30% off to eat in WAKUWAKU CAFE at Kaffein. All the unique games were pretty challenging, so I tried them. Before leaving the PIAZZA, both of us also took a picture with Ultraman Mebius, a famous superhero character from Japan. It was fun!!
