[NEW SPOT] Traditional Thai Food at Thai Jim Jum for Dinner

I heard about this restaurant from our church friend; that Thai Jim Jum Restaurant has moved from Pasar Muara Karang to the new PIK Ruko opposite KFC and Happy Puppy KTV. When my husband reached home, he told me that we would have a meeting at Green Bay Pluit that night. I suddenly thought about this restaurant because that afternoon; Andrew Vousdru gave me a notification about the relocation of this restaurant. What a coincidence!! Because the meeting location and the restaurant are in one area, we’re so excited to try it and decided to have dinner at the Thai Jim Jum. The restaurant itself isn’t big but pretty comfy, and they use a big mirror on their wall to make a bigger effect of the room.

I knew that I should order a Thai Ice Tea, a typical drink that we used to order in Thailand restaurant. But since I’m not in the mood to drink any beverages containing milk, so we just ordered the Hot Tea and Ice Badak Sarsaparilla, my all time favorite beverage.

At first, we ordered four menus based on my friend’s recommendation, such as Pad Thai, Tom Yum Seafood, Pandan Chicken and Babi Goreng Tengah Hari. We also ordered Fried Fish with Mango Salad (Yam Pladuk Fu, IDR 30K) that looks appetizing, but, unfortunately, this menu wasn’t available at that time.

Moo Dad Diaw (Babi Goreng Tengah Hari), IDR 35K

A small portion of deep-fried pork jerky served with chili sauce. This is a typical of Thai street food, where pork jerky nicely marinated in soy sauce and sliced into little pieces. Sweet and salty tasted at the same time, perfectly fried until tender and crisp. The white sesame and the orange leaf made this dish even more fragrant. It tasted so delicious!

Shrimp Tom Yum Goong, IDR 50K

If you noticed what I said earlier in this post, I was ordered Seafood Tom Yum (IDR 75K), but they gave us Shrimp Tom Yum. Hicks… I realized it when I was about making notes for myself right after we finished eating. We’re a bit disappointed because the Seafood Tom Yum Goong that we ordered were switched to the other table. The Shrimp Tom Yum contained only three pieces of tender and sweet shrimps, with sliced of mushrooms, and lots of sliced lemongrass, ginger, etc. However, the tom yum soup has a balanced flavor between hot, sour and spicy. For us, the soup was not too spicy, so we enjoyed it until the last sip. The rich flavor of shrimp soup base tasted so comforting.

Gai Hoh Bai Toey (Pandan Chicken), IDR 25K

Pandan Chicken is one of the popular Thai dishes. Three small pieces of marinated chicken wrapped in Pandan leaves, give a pleasant flavor and inviting aroma of the chicken. The chicken was very fragrant, moist, and tender, absolutely delicious! It is served with a sweet soy sauce with sesame dipping sauce, but we prefer to eat it that way so we can enjoy the original savory spices of the chicken.

We’re a little bit unhappy with their slow service and inattentive staff that night, but we understand that this restaurant was fully packed with people who are curious about the Thai Jim Jum Restaurant. It has been opened for two days at the Ruko after successfully opened temporary for three months at Pasar Muara Karang. Overall, we loved all the food we’ve tried on the above post. All those foods were delicious and quite affordable; it’s worth the price because they are all comes in a small portion. Oh, one more thing! After we finished all the food and waited for so long for the last menu that hasn’t come, one of the staff told us that we cannot get Pad Thai, sold out already! Why they made us wait for so long then? They should inform us earlier! Fiuuh.. However, we are still curious and will come back again to try some other menus!
