I accidentally spotted this new restaurant after we had a meeting with hubby’s friend yesterday. Blue Jasmine Restaurant at Kyai Maja, South Jakarta has been opened since mid-December 2014, so we decided to stop by and have our lunch there. This restaurant is located in The MAJA building, exactly across the Pasar Taman Puring, and next to the Taman Puring Post Office. The parking area is quite large compared to the hype places to eat around Senopati because it could fit up to a maximum of 12 cars. The dining area itself is also spacious, separated into two areas; smoking (outdoor area) and non-smoking (indoor area).
Both of us instantly fell in love with their interiors where modern, chic, and minimalist look of the blue and white color of jasmine, used to represent the name of the restaurant in the entire room. Besides that, fresh and artificial flowers are also available at each table makes the atmosphere become more classy and looks fresh. So lovely! Although the outdoor is in the smoking area, we chose to sit there because there are lots of green plants in this area, and of course, enough lighting as we need.
Blue Jasmine Restaurant apparently under the same management with G.B Bistro Restaurant. They serve a wide variety of Indo Orient Cuisine, such as Popiah, Perkedel Jagung, Kepiting Soka Padang Sauce, Nasi Campur Medan, Buntut Rawon, Ifumie Siam, Nasi Goreng Bebek, Sup Buntut, Terong Balado, Ayam Goreng Balacan, and many more. We were too confused to choose, so we ordered some from the Lunch Special menu that’s available only from 11:00 to 15:00 every day.

Oolong Rose, IDR 38K
Blue Jasmine Restaurant also offers a lot of interesting drinks such as tea, coffee, fresh juices, cocktails and some special drinks. Because I wanted something light to accompany my lunch, I ordered the Oolong Rose, which is new to me and rarely found in other restaurants. Oolong Rose Tea has a delicate flavor, luscious, fragrant and with a soothing effect on the pink rose buds. Love it!
Blue Opium, IDR 45K
The waiter recommended me to try Blue Opium, one of the specialty drinks as well as their signature drink. A beautiful blue shades, where blue curacao syrup, longan, soda water, ginger and lemon mixed together. It’s surely tasted fresh but for me, nothing special about this drink.
Chicken Satay, IDR 55K
These classic Indonesian chicken satays are presented beautifully and pretty unique, don’t you see? Five pieces of tasty chicken skewers served with traditional peanut sauce. The chicken meat was tender and flavorful, while the peanut sauce was also delicious. I tasted there are some chopped nuts in the sauce, it was nice, but it would be better if the sauce can be thicker so it can stick perfectly to the skewers meat.
Perkedel Jagung Nyonya, IDR 35K
Both of us also fell in love with this simple dish. It was very crisp, yet fluffy and tender on the inside; exactly has the savory flavor and balance that we want. They served it with sambal matah that was also delicious and made us addicted to these crispy corn fritters.
Lontong Sayur Medan, IDR 60K
Lontong Sayur Medan is one of the traditional Indonesian dishes. Though here may not be authentic as the original, but this Lontong Sayur Medan was tasty and recommended. A big portions of rice cakes (in Bahasa referred as Lontong) served with several different dishes; Beef Rendang, Chicken Satay, Beans, tahu tauco, chili egg (telur sambal), and slices of fried crispy potatoes in coconut milk soup (in Bahasa, we called it as Kuah Lodeh). All the delicious flavor used the Indonesian spices, made it become our favorite dish too at Blue Jasmine Restaurant.
From our overall experience, we are very pleased to have lunch at the Blue Jasmine Restaurant. None of the food makes us disappointed!! Friendly service, lovely and cozy atmosphere, plus affordable price, makes us want to come back again with my family. For those of you who crave Indo Chinese dishes often, and for those who haven’t tried the Indo-Chinese cuisine, make sure to put the Blue Jasmine on your culinary list and visit them. Highly recommended!
