[NEW SPOT] Tasty Malaysian and Cantonese Cuisine at Three in One Cafe Bistro

I’ve heard about Three in One Cafe and Bistro, which located at Pasar Baru from Chef Norman when we had a shooting for Kompas TV on last October 2014. We were so curious and finally had a chance to try this restaurant just a few days ago; I came for dinner together with mom in law and my husband. Three in One Cafe and Bistro located exactly across GKI (Gereja Kristen Indonesia), and right next to Classic Hotel at Jalan Samanhudi, Pasar Baru. Not only the parking area, but the restaurant itself is also has a spacious dining area. There’s nothing fancy about the decoration, but the warm lighting inside the restaurant made us feels comfortable, similar to other Chinese food restaurants that I usually find in Jakarta.

Three in One Cafe and Bistro serves Malaysian and Cantonese food, ranging from the appetizers, rice and noodles, roast specialty, poultry and meat, seafood, tofu, vegetables, desserts, etc. For the drinks, we only ordered the ordinary hot tea and iced tea to give a neutral flavor to the main dishes that we’ve ordered.

Ayam Rebus Ipoh, IDR 78K (Half Size)

Having dinner at Three in One Cafe would not be complete without a taste of the signature dish, Ayam Rebus Ipoh. It was just the three of us, so we ordered a half portion of Ipoh steamed chicken. Surprisingly, the portion was quite big (even better than the one we tried a couple months ago at one Chinese Food Restaurant at Kelapa Gading, a branch from Singapore), and this steamed chicken was very tender. To give extra flavor, we also added the freshly pounded garlic mixed with ginger, and dark soy sauce that made it even more delicious! Tasty!

Clams in Curry Sauce, IDR 48K

We all love this kind of clam, in Bahasa referred as Kerang Tahu. If you like clams, you will love the scrumptious curry clams like this. I can smell the spices before the waiter place it on the table. This dish has great flavor enhanced by the strong spicy curry sauce, topped with fresh basil and red chili. My mom just couldn’t stop enjoying this spicy clam that night. I know she loved it very much just by looking at her expression. It was quite spicy, tasted so delicious and best to enjoy with steamed rice.

Deep-Fried Dory with Salted Egg, IDR 68K

We were surprised when the waiter came and served this dish on our table. It turned out the salted egg was not dry, unlike what we usually eat at many Chinese food restaurants in Jakarta. The waiter then explained that this is their version of salted egg; kind of wet, so it can cover the fried fish very well. No doubt!! It was the best fried dory fish we’ve ever tasted so far!! Again, it was a simple dish with generous portions, and tasty salted egg that wins our heart.

At first we had doubts about this restaurant because of the price is quite expensive, but then we changed our minds. All the dishes that we had come in generous portions, unique and delicious taste of Malaysian and Cantonese style, so it was all worth it! We would love to come back to Three in One Cafe and enjoy some other menus with my family. Highly recommended!!
