[JAPAN] Korean Fusion Lunch at OSURI Restaurant at Gaienmae, Tokyo

When we were in Tokyo, we visited Osuri Restaurant, a Korean Fusion Restaurant located around Omotesando, precisely in Gaienmae, Tokyo, Japan. It wasn’t difficult to find this place because we had browsed and checked out the location from the GPS while we’re still at the hotel that morning. We’ve stored the locations in our mobile phones and just follow the map. From the Gaienmae station, we took the exit through Gate 3 and walked heading to A&J Burger. Right when we saw the brown building with mural art at the intersection of the traffic light, we turned right and just walked straight. Not far from there, we found OSURI Restaurant exactly on the right side. Yay! We’re quite surprised because the restaurant itself wasn’t big, yet so comfortable inside. There are only a few tables available inside, and we were lucky to get a place to sit near the window.

The fact that Lunch menus in Japan are relatively cheaper than dinner made us hunt down several famous spots to have lunch in Japan based on our research and some recommendations from Japan’s foodblogger. We reached the OSURI Restaurant around 1 o’clock in the afternoon, and the place was quite full that day.

They offered us a Lunch Menu where most of them written in Japanese. Ha-ha.. Luckily my husband could read some of the Hiragana and Katakana, and we decided to order Samgyetang (Korean Chicken Soup) and Bulgogi Bibimbap. If you come for dinner, they will give you a different menu.

Samgyetang (Korean Chicken Soup), ¥1200
(with convertion rate 1 ¥ = Rp. 107, equal to IDR 128.000,-)

Samgyetang, which is often referred to as the Korean chicken soup with Ginseng, is a traditional Korean dish served during the summer. Koreans believe that in order to win the hot weather they have to eat hot food (hot temperatures and not spicy). Well, I ordered this one, not because of it, but since I rarely find this in Jakarta. It looked appealing from the menu. The chicken soup was slightly creamy in texture, very rich and tasty. They use a young chicken, boiled together with a high-quality ginseng, various medical herbs, and garlic cloves to create a flavorful and energizing soup. The chicken meat was so tender, tasty, and the balance of flavors were so good!! This set menu served with a choice of white or brown rice, with several bite-sized side dishes, clear soup, and a small dessert. A must try!

Bibimbap is one of my all-time favorite dishes. It’s also a signature Korean dish that we usually find in every Korean restaurant anywhere. Seasoned mixed vegetables (spinach, bean sprouts, carrots, etc.) and bulgogi minced meat served with a bowl of rice in a hot stone pot, topped with a beautiful egg yolk. As usual, we have to mix all the ingredients well in the bowl before we eat the Bibimbap. The rice became crispy, the meat was tender, and the gochujang sauce was excellent!

What we have tried at OSURI Restaurant was delicious! If you are near Gaienmae, this could be a best option for lunch. Friendly staff, comfortable place, and affordable price for the big portions of lunch set, truly worth for everyone to visit. Don’t forget to visit Aoyama Flower Market Tea House which is also a must visit near Omotesando. The Aoyama Flower Market was a lovely tea house I’ve ever seen. A combination of florist with a tea house where the fresh scent of flowers greets us. Read more about this little gem at Aoyama Flower Market Tea House by Myfunfoodiary.
