My parents often crave for a good steak, and now they’re lucky because there’s a new steak house called Kitchen Steak. This restaurant just recently opened in Sunter, North Jakarta two weeks ago on February 11, 2015. Kitchen Steak is located exactly across from Food Centrum, in the commercial sector Ruko Griya Utama Block A, Sunter. There were not many visitors when we visited this place for lunch; that’s why we can easily park our car in front of the restaurant, although very limited parking space. The dining room is divided into two, indoor and outdoor. But there are only a few tables on the first floor so we immediately chose to occupy the dining room on the 2nd floor that is more spacious and comfortable for my family.
I was surprised when I saw their menu list. Kitchen Steak serves a variety of steaks at affordable prices ranging from IDR 30.000,– to IDR 75.000,-. Not only the affordable prices that will make your jaw drop, but also a special 20% discount off during the soft opening that is valid until February 28, 2015. Wow! Can you believe this?
Java Lychee, IDR 17.5K
In addition to the usual iced tea and hot tea, we also ordered a Java Lychee drink, which is one of their recommendations. It’s made of lychee syrup-based, mixed with yoghurt and some lychee fruits. Simple yet so refreshing!
Rib Eye Import (200gr), IDR 50K
I couldn’t stop thinking about how they reduce the cost and sell Rib Eye import as cheaply as this. But, the rib eye tasted so tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked in medium well level that fit with our order. The mushroom sauce gave more flavor to the meat, and it’s served with sliced of natural cut fries and some vegetables on the side.
Fish and Chips Steak, IDR 38K
My mother was interested in ordering this menu because they use dory fish for this menu. Unfortunately, the outer layer was less savory, less crunchy and almost tasteless.
Grilled Salmon Steak Import (200gr), IDR 65K
Kitchen Steak serves Grilled Salmon Steak rather than Grilled Salmon Fillet, so we ordered the Steak version. A crosscut slice of a large marinated salmon fish, perfectly grilled to medium rare and served with natural cut of French fries and vegetables on the side. Although there are many fish bones, the salmon meat was very moist and had a very soft seasoning flavor. We loved it!
Overall from our lunch experience, Kitchen Steak is one of the steak houses that serves a variety of steaks at an affordable price, taste good, nice presentation and quite filling. Although this may not be the best steak in town, but with a decent and reasonable price, it may be worth a try. If you’re confused where to eat in Sunter area, Kitchen Steak could be your next culinary destination.
