[NEW SPOT] Roba Yakitori, A Japanese Fast Casual Dining Restaurant

Hello there, Japanese food lovers! Let’s welcome the Roba Yakitori restaurant in Mall Taman Anggrek that recently opened a week ago. The growth of food business in big cities like Jakarta makes any F & B industry to innovate with new concepts. This restaurant that provides a wide selection of typical Japanese Skewers is apparently one group with Pancious restaurant, one of the restaurant brands that still exist to this day. In front of the restaurant, there’s a form of large skewer, which represents the name of the restaurant itself, Robatayaki (skewers) and Yakitori (chicken skewers). You’ll easily spot this restaurant located on the 3rd floor of Mall Taman Anggrek, right next to Pancious Restaurant.

This restaurant has a spacious dining area, with Japanese minimalist décor and enough lighting that makes the atmosphere feel warm and comfortable for diners. When we walked into the restaurant, we immediately turn right to the open kitchen, take the food tray, and then choose a variety of Japanese skewers that we desired.

All the fresh ingredients of the Japanese skewers are displayed in an open kitchen so that diners can see the freshness of each skewer. All of them seemed appealing and made me confused. Fortunately, just above the open kitchen there is a display of price and the recommendation, making it easier for me when choosing the desired Japanese skewers.

Finally, I ordered about five types of Japanese skewers which recommended by Roba Yakitori on the menu display, one Yakitori Bento, and two hot Ocha (refillable). Besides Yakitori, they also offer several other Japanese food options, such as Japanese salads, Inari, Sashimi, and others. Next thing I know, I also added Salmon Sashimi on my order, and I paid almost Rp. 250.000, for all of the orders. Then, they gave us a number, and we just have to sit and wait while the Yakitori is being grilled. But, hey, there was no regret and, in fact, we would like to come back again to try some other skewers. Why? Scroll down to find out more of our dining experience at Roba Yakitori.

Salmon Sashimi, IDR 36K

Apparently, Salmon sashimi served in a takeaway container as shown in the figure below. Four small slices of raw salmon, very fresh and tasty. It’s best eaten alone or dip into a mix of soy sauce and with or without wasabi.

Various Yakitori from left to right on below figure:

Beef Enoki Teriyaki, IDR 22K per piece

Shiitake Teriyaki, IDR 18K per piece

Salmon Wasabi Butter, IDR 32K per piece

Beef Tenderloin Teriyaki, IDR 30K per piece

Chicken Ball Teriyaki, IDR 15K per piece

These bite-sized chunks of chicken, beef, salmon and shiitake mushroom were seasoned with a mixture of sauce, then grilled to perfection. It allows the tasty juices of chicken, beef, and everything that I tasted since my first bite! Enoki mushrooms wrapped with sliced beef meat and glazed with a sweet teriyaki sauce. It was juicy and tasted so delicious! Same thing with Shiitake Mushroom, Beef Tenderloin, and Chicken Ball, rich flavors, very juicy and scrumptious! Salmon Wasabi Butter also became our favorite. It tasted delicious where cooked salmon mixed with savory butter and spicy wasabi on top.

Yakitori Bento 2B, IDR 52K

In addition to some delicious skewers above, I also tried Yakitori Bento 2B. This package consists of white rice served with Chicken Leg Miso Yakitori, Chicken Breast Teriyaki Yakitori, Tamago and Sauteed onions. We liked all the sweet and salty combination of this package! Chicken Leg Miso was slightly salty while the Japanese Omelette Egg (Tamago) has a light texture with a sweet flavor.

Overall from our experience, we loved all of the Yakitori and everything that we tried at Roba Yakitori last night. We haven’t tried the Matcha Soft Ice Cream and now thinking of getting back to Roba Yakitori. If you’re a fan of Japanese food, Roba Yakitori can be your next culinary destination!
