[NEW SPOT] Various Delicious Dim Sum at 48 Signature Restaurant, PIK

Although, there are many restaurants and many different cuisines, we keep craving for Chinese food. So we went to 48 Signature Restaurant for lunch a few days ago at PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk), North Jakarta. 48 Signature is a Chinese food restaurant that has opened on December 25, 2014 and apparently; it is a new branch of 48 Dim Sum Place in Gondangdia, Menteng, South Jakarta. I heard from the waiter, that 48 Dim Sum in Menteng serves Halal dim sum (no pork, no lard) while here in 48 Signature, visitors can choose a variety of dishes made from pork. I came to the right place, yay!! Although the location is in a row of shophouses in PIK, this restaurant has a spacious dining area with premium oriental decorative that dominated by the black and red color. It was already crowded with other visitors when we’re there.

48 Signature restaurant provides a variety of fresh seafood, and shark fin soup (hisit) as their signature dish. Many of my favorite Chinese dishes are also available here, such as Roasted Duck, Suan La Tang Soup, Kerapuh Fish, Pig Roast, Fried Shrimp Mayonnaise, Scallop, and others. I almost went crazy and wanted to order some ala carte menu, but we have to hold our desire because we went there without our family. So, we decided to try out some recommended Dim Sum dishes on the menu. Dim Sum is available every day for lunch until 4pm.

Around PIK, there is also a new Chinese food restaurant that is a branch of Medan (Babura Dim Sum & Steamboat), but their Dim Sum is not that much when compared to 48 Signature Restaurant. Here, 48 Signature restaurant offers 44 variants of Dim Sum dishes that are divided into 4 categories; 4 kinds of Steamed Rice Roll, 14 kinds of Steam Dim Sum, 12 kinds of Deep Fried Dim Sum, and 14 others including porridge.

Bakpao Cha Siew Panggang, IDR 28.8K - non halal

This Cha Siew Pao had a crisp outer layer and stuffed with the sweet savory sliced of pork Cha Siew. We loved this Cha Siew Pao since the first bite!

Tim Siew Mai, IDR 28.8K - non halal

Steamed Siew Mai is one of the “must-have” Dim Sum for us. It contained pork meat that mixed together with shrimp and shiitake mushrooms, topped with tobiko. They tasted great!

Tim Pangsit Szechuan, IDR 25.8K - non halal

Szechuan style dumpling was one of our favorites as well. Although delicious, Szechuan dumpling should come with chili oil sauce, but this pork dumpling served in a light soy sauce that tasted a little spicy.

Tim Wonton with Chili Oil, IDR 28.8K - non halal

This menu was similar to the picture above, but this wonton served with red chili oil exactly as I expected, which is a traditional style in Sichuan. It tasted spicy and fragrant, so tasty!! But it would be best if they served it with chopped green onion and red pepper flakes on top.

Tim Bakso Sapi dengan Kulit Tahu, IDR 28.8K

Minced beef meatballs have been processed with chopped green onion and garlic in it. Although they seem simple, but the texture was very soft and tasty! Not to forget, beancurd skin also tasted so delicious!

Paikut Tausi, IDR 28K - non halal

Steamed pieces of pork ribs served with a right amount of black bean sauce. The pork ribs tasted tender, savory and flavorful. Loved it!

Xiao Long Bao ala 48 Dim Sum, IDR 28.8K

We are fans of Xiao Long Bao (Chinese steamed soup dumplings) as well, but, unfortunately, the Xiao Long Bao ala 48 Dim Sum was not as we expected. I supposed to be able to slurp the hot soup out of a dumpling, but because the paper-thin dough was too thin and easily damaged, we cannot sip the hot soup anymore.

Of all our lunch experience, we’re pleased to find there’s another good Chinese food restaurant at PIK, which is easily accessible to us. All the fresh ingredients and delicious taste according to our liking makes 48 Signature is added to the list of our favorite Chinese food restaurant. Of course, we will return to this restaurant and bring our family to eat together. Highly recommended!
