[NEW POST] Relaxing Afternoon with French Appetizer at Le Quartier Restaurant

The options for French food in Jakarta are still limited compared to other cuisines, but I’m sure most of you know about Le Quartier Restaurant located in Gunawarman, Senopati, South Jakarta. It’s one of the French food restaurants that received a reward as the Best European Restaurant by NOW! Jakarta 2014. We heard so much about this restaurant and had passed this place a lot, until finally we decided to visit Le Quartier to try some light meals. We instantly fell in love with the ambiance. The atmosphere is just right with warm and inviting, modern and cozy, with large spaces available for the non-smoking area. Yay!

Escargots, IDR 136K

I never like snails until I tried Escargots (cooked land snails), one of the authentic and classic French dishes that I had tried in a French restaurant in Jakarta a few years ago. So when I saw this on Le Quartier‘s menu, I quickly ordered this dish. I have tried escargot a number of times and this one was absolutely one of the best. The clean and tender texture of escargot was very delicious, served in a small, shallow dish, nestled in a mixture of garlic sauce.

Soupe A L'ognion Gratinee, IDR 88K

Soupe A L’ognion Gratinee simply means French Onion Soup. It was a classic French soup that has a good depth of flavor, even though, it only consists of caramelized onions, topped with toasted bread, and covered with cheese. It was not too salty, and the onions were not mushy.

Nicoise Salad and Olive Oil Poached Tuna, IDR 136K

Nicoise Salad is a classic French Salad that I always wanted to try. A tasty combinations of baby potatoes, green beans, baby tomatoes, olives, marinated anchovies, tuna, and hard-boiled egg on top.  It was delicious and served wonderfully, but, too bad, the lemon rind dressing was too sour and salty, overpower the other flavors.

Overall from my experience, we had a good times at Le Quartier. They offer a wide variety menus ranging from grills, seafoods, steaks, pastas, sandwiches, risottos, tartine, and desserts. The staff is friendly, relaxed atmosphere, attentive service, and high-quality food makes this restaurant worth a visit. Oh, if you are ever wondering to visit Paris and enjoy the best of French food, maybe you can make your dream come true by joining the Tanda 360˚ di Bank OCBC NISP program. I heard that the more we increase our bank saving, we can get a chance to win a trip to Paris. That’s cool!
