If you’ve ever wondered how to make those Korean buttercream flowers, you can start now. So I went to the Spatula Baking Course a week ago and joined in a class with several other students. Vera, who is a friendly and nice owner of this baking course, had a regular class to make buttercream flowers inside her apartment located in Kelapa Gading. She has started to share her baking knowledge since three years ago and joined the Instagram for about almost a year ago because she wanted to share all the fun of baking and decorating cakes through her social media. I’m not going to talk a lot this time, let these pictures talk by themselves. ๐
Oh, btw, I met some new friends in the class. They are very friendly and eager to learn, just like me. Ha-ha.. ๐ It was nice to meet them all, and we had so much fun that day! Yay! None of us a pro baker, but we have the same mission, to learn and make a beautiful buttercream flower that is very popular with the Koreans these days. We all started with the basic steps and how Vera taught us to use the proper tools and techniques, from piping the flowers, learn wreath style, learn to combine 2 different colors, made each one of us enjoyed the baking class from the start.
Flowers covered in the class will include Rose, Peony, White Orchid, Apple Blossom, and Baby Breath. She also taught us how to make smooth Italian merigue buttercream, Indonesian buttercream recipe, Vanilla sponge cake recipe, how to cover the cake and then arrange these flowers on a dummy cake. But if you already know how to make those flowers that I mentioned above and want to try some other flowers, you can join the Advanced class that will include Ranunculus, Magnolia, Lisianthus, English Rose, Poppies and Craspedia. 814
I heard that she covers everything, not only buttercream flower decoration, but also how to make various breads (cinnamon roll, Taiwan sweet buns, baguette, sandwich loaf, whole meal loaf, etc), various cakes (lapis Surabaya, sponge cake, brownies, moist chocolate devil cake, orange cake, red velvet, etc), cookies, sweet and savory tartlet, and much more!
She worked with us closely during the class, and we enjoyed the decoration process that was easy and fun to do. If you’re new to cake decorating, this class is designed for those of you who have a passion to learn all about buttercream decorating. Vera, the humble and talented owner, will guide you through the basics, but she also opened classes for all skill levels.

Lovely post! Is there anyway you could share the Indonesian buttercream recipe? I am in the states and would never get a chance to attend a class?. Did they put the flowers on soft, or did they dry or freeze them before placement? Thank you in advance!

Hello! I would like to ask the same question too ๐ did you use the italian meringue buttercream on the flowers?? I also live in a humid country such as the Philippines. It’s surprising to see that they pipe it directly on the flower nail and without freezing. Do you need to freeze the flowers before lifting them again to put on the cake? I’m quite scared that it will melt and would not be as stiff to be placed on the cake. Thank you! ๐

Dear Kat, thank you for visiting our website. Yes, we need to freeze the flowers, then after that, we can put them on the cake. ๐
