[NEW SPOT] Hangout, Play and Dine Various Martabak at Ngileer Cafe

Martabak (a typical of Indonesian stuffed pancake or pan-fried bread) is considered as a popular snack in Indonesia, and I realized about Ngileer Cafe, a new hangout place to enjoy Martabak in Alam Sutera, Serpong from the social media. Ngileer Cafe recently opened at the end of March 2015, and I went there for an afternoon snack with my family. You’ll easily find this cafe located at The Prominence shophouses, next to the All Fresh markets in Alam Sutera. Although the place is small, it was quite crowded. When I came, the upper floor was full already with a lot of young people who play games while eating martabak with some friends.

As a Martabak specialist cafe, I must say that they’re quite creative with their menu as they offer a wide variety of sweet and savory martabak. In fact, here customers can also customize their own martabak, ranging from the size, the base (original, pandan, or brownies), and toppings.

Fresh Fruit Cocktail, IDR 30K

Instead of coffee or flavored iced coffee, I ordered a fresh fruit cocktail that can shared up to 3 persons. This fruit cocktail is made from mango syrup containing sliced of fresh apple, strawberry, kiwi and orange. It was as simple as that, but it tasted quite refreshing.

Cookies and Cream Martabak, IDR 25K

At first, we wanted to try the Fresh Avocado Martabak, but, unfortunately, they run out of avocado. So we decided to try the Cookies and Cream Martabak, which is also a favorite Martabak from the sweet category. There are several sizes of martabak that we can choose, but I ordered the small size consisting of 4 slices of martabak. This one consisted of grated cheese, and chocolate sprinkles on top of martabak, served with Vanilla Ice Cream, Oreo crumbs and drizzled with chocolate sauce. It was simply delightful where I found the perfectly cooked martabak had that slightly crisp skin with a very soft and fluffy texture on the inside.

Martabak Telur with Smoked Beef and Cheese, IDR 40K

From the savory martabak, I ordered Martabak Telor (Egg Martabak) which is also one of their favorites. We usually called it as a folded stuffed pancake. So, instead of the usual minced beef, they filled it with special fillings, such as smoked beef and cheese, served with the cucumber-shallot-carrot pickles and a special sweet sauce. Generous and tasty fillings of this martabak instantly made us enjoyed the martabak so much.

Overall, we liked all the food above. Quick service and relatively affordable with a choice of various sizes of martabak. Unfortunately, their toilet was very dirty, where the toilet was clogged that day, and there was something floating, oops! It was a shameful thing, and the waiter nor the owner seemed not to care about such things because I heard some other customers were also complaining about the toilet. I hope in the future they will pay attention to the cleanliness of the toilets as well. >_<
