[NEW SPOT] From Madrid, Gastromaquia Now Open in Jakarta

There are many new restaurants opened in Jakarta and this time I want to introduce Gastromaquia, in Senopati area, South Jakarta, which just had their grand opening on May 29, 2015. Gastromaquia that existed since 2008 by Hugo Ecolios Roldan and Ramon Figuls Palos, has been awarded the Tripadvisor’s Certificate of Excellence for three years in a row. They have consistently been ranked among the top 50 restaurants in Madrid. With such a great achievement, the owner of this restaurant in Jakarta cooperated with the Gastromaquia‘s owner who resides in Madrid, and they all decided to create a new branch, Gastromaquia Jakarta.

Bringing the concept from Madrid, Gastromaquia Jakarta also serves a variety of Spanish dishes to complement the culinary lovers in Jakarta. All dishes are prepared using special recipes, several menus adapted from Madrid, and even certain ingredients are imported. Although the capacity of the dining room is not too much, they offer a pleasant, bright, and casual atmosphere, especially on the second floor with flowery sofa and a large window in the dining room.

Happy Days, IDR 39K - Manzana Peppeno, IDR 35K

Instead of reaching cocktails, soda drink, or beer, we tried two of their most favorite mocktail drinks. Happy Days Mocktail is made from a refreshing combination of orange, lychee, kiwi and passionfruit. While Manzana Peppeno Mocktail consisted of apple, lemon, and cucumber. These drinks were absolutely alcohol-free, nothing fancy, but they were fun and tasted so refreshing. We loved both so much!

Gastromaquia Spare Ribs, IDR 129K

What’s better than spare ribs? The tenderness of pork meat, a bit dry on the outside but moist on the inside, and a bit crispy on the exterior with a special sauce made this dish turned into a finger-licking good ribs! It also served with a fragrant rice.

Seared Pork Shank with Spanish Cheese, IDR 135K

Alert pork lovers, you should try the succulent pork shanks at Gastromaquia Jakarta and eat them while it’s still hot. The Spanish cheese, which located in the middle of gelatinous fat from the pork shanks tasted unbelievably delicious and irresistible!! The pork shanks instantly became our favorite dish, it was perfectly cooked and smells good too!

Stuffed Chicken with Bacon and Date, IDR 95K

While other restaurants usually use chicken breast to make stuffed chicken, Gastromaquia Jakarta chose to use the thigh part; my favorite chicken parts. The chicken was beautifully presented, stuffed with Pork Bacon and dates with herbal oil added to it. The chicken meat was juicy, tender and full of flavor. Not to forget, the mixture of pork bacon, and dates created a wonderful flavor between salty and sweet at the same time. It was unique and became one of the best chicken dishes I have ever had so far.

Overall from our experience, we really enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Gastromaquia Jakarta. All the food above was made fresh, tasty and flavorsome. Last but not least, because of the great service and a relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant, I would recommend you to visit Gastromaquia Jakarta and we will be happy to come back again. Don’t forget to call ahead and make a reservation before you arrive.
