[NEW SPOT] My Coffee Break Time at Filosofi Kopi, Blok M Square – Melawai

An old building in Blok M Square shopping complex, Melawai, instantly transformed into a coffee shop that has been popular recently, named Filosofi Kopi. Filosofi Kopi (Coffee Philosophy) is an Indonesian’s first user-generated movie, adapted from a short story works by Dewi “Dee” Lestari (a singer and writer). Filosofi Kopi itself is not just a film, but also talks about coffee, books, and games. Even the main character of this film, Chicco Jerikho, and Rio Dewanto, who are also the owner of this cafe, use this cafe as a shooting location. No wonder the coffee shop gets busier by coffee lovers and their fans.

This film was also carrying a fresh message to introduce the good quality of Indonesian coffee. That is why, Filosofi Kopi offers a variety of Indonesian coffee for coffee lovers, though the coffee drink is still limited at the moment.

The vintage chic decor caught my eyes the moment I stepped into the coffee shop. And you know what? There are so many nice and interesting spots in this coffee shop to take a selfie picture, ha-ha.. 😀 However, the large window glass made the air inside the coffee shop feels a bit hot and less cold inside, especially when the sun was shining brightly like that day. Unfortunately, their kitchen wasn’t ready that afternoon, and I couldn’t order any snacks (waffle, French fries, and fried cassava), so I decided just to order a Latte along with a glass of Ice Chocolate based on their recommendation.

Overall from this visit, we enjoyed both classic drinks and the calm atmosphere in the coffee shop that afternoon. The barista was friendly and helpful as well, but, unfortunately, we didn’t have a chance to meet the actors of the Filosofi Kopi movie that day. If you’re lucky, Rio Dewanto will probably be the one who serves the coffee for you.
