[JAPAN] Japanese Miso Soup in Tohoku Region, Japan

When it comes to Japanese food, we are always excited and happy to try a different type of dishes; from Bento Rice, Donburi, Ramen, Soba, and many more which usually come with miso soup when in Japan. Not only makes me feel good, but the taste of miso soup in Japan was so flavorful and comforting. Miso is a traditional Japanese soup consisting of a stock called “dashi“, but may be varied depending on the ingredients, seasonal recipes, and personal preference. It’s a key product in the Japanese culinary tradition, and most ideal with meat, fish and vegetables. Most Japanese restaurants serve Miso soup and usually served after the main course, along with rice and pickles.

Miso Taste of Tohoku Japan

In this post, I’m going to share certain Miso Soup in Tohoku Japan. If you haven’t heard or are not familiar about Tohoku in Japan, Tohoku Region is part of Japan and consists of six prefectures in the north of Japan‘s largest island, Honshu. I read from the internet that Tohoku Region is well known for its countryside, mountains, lakes, hot springs, high-quality rice and rough winters. All the interesting sights in Tohoku make us want to travel to Tohoku as well, but unfortunately we don’t have much time during our second trip to Japan this month. We’ve been to Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo in Japan, I pray that we will able to visit Tohoku Region on our third visit to Japan in the future. Because there are so many wonderful things that we find in Japan. We will definitely come back again to Japan one day.

There are three different sorts of Miso in Tohoku, Japan; Sendai Miso (a style of miso, or fermented soybean and rice paste, unique to the Sendai region), Dengaku Miso (sweetened miso used as sauce on grilled tofu and other foods) and finally, Tokusen Miso (specialty miso).
