[NEW SPOT] Sapori Deli, an Italian-style Deli shop at Fairmont Jakarta

Fairmont Hotel Jakarta recently launched Sapori Deli that can be enjoyed by anyone, especially for those who love Italian cuisine. Unlike other deli stores that exist in most of the five-star hotel in Jakarta, Sapori Deli presents in a contemporary and rustic design, very attractive with a very spacious dining area and a different concept. This exciting new deli shop in town offers an Italian themed urban cafe where various components merge into one covering barista, gourmet retail, bakery, and bistro. They even also apply the lovely motive of Yogya batik on the tile floor in there, as well as in their food packaging specifically to take-away. That’s interesting!

Located on the third floor of the hotel, Sapori Deli is filled with warm lighting that creates a relaxed, cozy yet modern place to chill out. It’s also become a perfect spot for a casual meeting, a calm reading place, and much more to interact with colleagues and friends. Sapori Deli divided into two separated areas; the food stores (Deli) and restaurants that allow guests to choose the most comfortable seating to enjoy a meal.

As an Italian-style Deli shop, Sapori Deli serves a variety of Italian sandwiches, Italian pasta and pizza that are made fresh from the kitchen. Of course, sandwiches are the main attraction at Sapori Deli. We were happy to be here, and it was interesting to be part of a special evening held by Sapori Deli. We tried some of their signature sandwiches; available in different flavors. The Confit Chicken Sandwich was the tastiest among all flavors and became everyone’s favorite. It consisted of provolone, baby spinach, roasted pepper, caramelized onion, and herb ciabatta. You should try it! We also tried the House Meatballs, Muffaletta, Crab Salad, Roasted Beef, and Duck Ham Sandwich. Each sandwich is composed of different fillings in each layer that makes each one of them unique, and simply delicious!

On this occasion, we also had the opportunity to learn how to make pizza. Although the pizza dough has been prepared by them beforehand, still it wasn’t easy to do. Chef de Cuisine, named Chef Ahmad Gojali, who has plenty of experience in some of the five-star restaurants in Qatar, Dubai, and Macau gave a little demonstration for us. As a chef who once worked in an Italian restaurant that was awarded a Michelin star in Macau, Chef Gozali made it look easy for us. Started from flattening the dough using our fingers, spread a good amount of tomato sauce, and a few good tips for us. The Executive Chef of Sapori Deli, Chef Andrew Zarzosa, also accompanied us when the pizza-making session began. Thanks, Chef!

As a result, I made a nice Chicky Shrimp Pizza combo that has all the irresistible combination ranging from chicken, shrimp, beef salami, mushroom, cherry tomatoes, and lots of cheese. The pizza had a pretty nice crust, airy texture, chewy and so flavorful. While my husband, he made himself TGIF Pizza a.k.a Thank God It’s Fairmont. Yay, we made our own pizza. It was fun!

Chef Andrew also made a delicious dessert called Zeppole, filled with delicious green tea (matcha) cream, but I prefer Zeppole with the Vanilla cream inside. Followed by the Sicilian Cannoli that became a sweet ending of the day! It’s a classic dessert from Sicily, where the crisp shell filled with sweet ricotta cheese. As a new culinary destination in town, Sapori Deli offers so many delightful Italian foods. You may want to start your day with a hearty sandwich or treat yourself with a variety of homemade Italian pasta and pizza at Sapori Deli.
