[NEW BRANCH] Fun Baking Class at Paul Indonesia 2nd Branch, Plaza Indonesia

I’m pleased that the famous artisan bakery and patisserie, Paul Bakery and Patisserie which originated from France, finally arrived in Indonesia. I’m sure you’re already familiar with this brand as well. If not, you can read my brunch experience at Paul Bakery’s first outlet in Indonesia, which located at Pacific Place, South Jakarta. So, exactly three months ago, in July 2015, Paul Indonesia has opened a second branch located on the second floor of the Plaza Indonesia Mall, Central Jakarta, and this is probably the biggest outlet ever in the country when compared to the first outlet in Pacific Place.

As usual, the interior design of Paul Bakery combines a contemporary and elegant style that refers to the characteristics of its first restaurant in the 1920s. The dining area of Paul Bakery Plaza Indonesia is divided into two areas, the outdoor and indoor seating. I love the open bakery kitchen located in the middle of the outdoor area where they showcase freshly baked bread and pastry. Recently, we had the privilege to participate in the Baking Session (last week, on Oct 8, 2015), and we sat in a smaller sitting room but with a more classic and comfortable atmosphere.

The legendary Paul Bakery, which established in 1889 in the city of Croix (Northern France) by Charlemagne Mayot, consistent serving thousands of different types of premium quality bakery and pastry, as a diverse selection of fresh bread, cakes, desserts, and a variety of other snacks are always fresh from the oven. PAUL Bakery believes that “excellent bread depends on excellent ingredients and time-honored methods” developed in France, and committed to making bread from locally sourced flour as long as the quality permits. And we were so excited to learn with the one and only Master Baker Franck Heuze in this private Baking Session. One of the processes that I remember was when we knead the dough by hand on a lightly floured surface. We must hold the dough by its edge and hit it on the table while folding it at the same time, repeating it fast, over and over again. At the last stage, we gently pre-shape the dough and added some ingredients before we gave a final shape and placed it into the oven. It was fun! In addition to the fun baking session, they served us with delightful lunch menus based on our choices. We had the Shrimp Salad and Chicken Salad for the appetizers, and Mushroom Omelette served with cheese for the main course. They were all delicious!

Paul Bakery Plaza Indonesia now become one of the relaxing places to sit back and enjoy that cup of cappuccino or tea with a freshly baked croissant or a heavy meal. Thank you Paul Indonesia for having us in this Private Baking Session. There is nothing like freshly baked bread, and I love the smell of fresh bread like this! So, if you look for the authentic French-style pastries and tasty croissants, then I highly recommend you to visit Paul Indonesia.
