[NEW SPOT] Taiwan’s Comfort Food at My Warm Day Cafe & Brunch

Just a few days ago, we went to a new restaurant called My Warm Day Cafe and Brunch, newly opened in Lippo Mall Puri (West Jakarta). My Warm Day apparently is a quite well-known chain breakfast shop with self-service model that has many branches in Taipei (Taiwan). They claim themselves to be TAIWAN No.1 Cafe & Brunch Chain Since 1987 with a slogan “REAL Food, REAL Happiness!” and over than 1000+ branches all over Taiwan. From what I read on their Facebook page, My Warm Day Jakarta just held a grand opening of this outlet on April 23, 2016. That means this cafe is pretty new in West Jakarta, and their 50% discount promotion took my attention that day, even though the discount was valid for drinks only.

The restaurant itself is clean and spacious enough for family or casual dining. A lovely combination of green, and light brown color easily catch the eyes of people who are passing by their outlet. With warm lighting and colorful murals on their wall, this place has a comfortable vibe to it. Unfortunately, they do not provide Free Wi-fi at the moment, but they have several power plug spots for those who want to do some work while enjoying some tea and food.

I’ve been to Taiwan, and I love their food. A lot of cheap and great food I found in Taiwan, but there’s also some cute theme-restaurant such as The Hello Kitty Cafe (Hello Kitty Kitchen and Dining), Barbie Cafe, and Modern Toilet Cafe that you shouldn’t miss when in Taiwan. So, it was nice to find a flavor of Taiwan in Jakarta in addition to the bubble tea drink trends which brought from Taiwan as well and was booming in Jakarta a few years ago. Here, My Warm Day Jakarta offers a variety of

different choices of food, ranging from Taiwan Specialties, Brunch, Omurice, Spaghetti, Risotto, Classic Bread and Sandwiches, Snacks, Desserts, and Bubble Tea Drinks; they seem to provide everything for everyone.

As we all know already, besides Bubble Tea, Beef Noodle is also one of the most popular food in Taiwan. I personally love the beef noodles as they are quite simple yet filling, and hearty. What I would say is, if you are a fan of Vietnamese pho, chances are you will love Taiwanese Beef Noodle as well. So, for our late lunch, we ordered the Taiwan Beef Noodles (IDR 69K), Bratwurst Risotto (IDR 45K), Sweet-Mango Flossy Ice (IDR 36K), and Iced Green Tea (IDR 10K, free refill).

The Taiwan Beef Noodles instantly became my favorite, and surprisingly the portion of noodle was quite generous. It came in a deliciously flavourful broth and big chunks of tender beef. I added extra spice to give a bit of a spiciness in the broth, and it was satisfying for both of us! Their Bratwurst Risotto was a sort of dry-style risotto, and it tasted like tomato rice with a sticky texture of rice, served with mozzarella cheese and Bratwurst sausages on top. It was simple, sweet, savory, and delicious. Though Iced Green Tea may sound basic, it was a bit bitter, unlike the common green tea that we usually find in many restaurants in Jakarta. And the Sweet-Mango Flossy Ice was so refreshing, nice choice of dessert for summer treats. Overall, we enjoyed the food even though the price isn’t cheap, but the quality was good.
