[NEW SPOT] Asiatale Resto and Bar, Delightful Good DimSum in Senopati

Asian cuisine is one of my favorites, knowing the fact that I grew up eating Chinese food in a chinese family, whether it’s traditional, or the modern one. Just earlier today, I stopped by for an afternoon break to Asiatale Resto and Bar, a newly opened restaurant in Senopati area. I was curious about this place since two weeks ago but didn’t have a chance to visit, until today, yay! Though it was just a short visit, we enjoyed our dim sum at Asiatale, and now I want to share the experience with all of you.

Located in Jalan Suryo in Senopati area, Asiatale Resto and Bar seems to be the answer for those looking for tasty Chinese food in this area. As a Chinese food restaurant, Asiatale brings the spirit of modern Asian cuisine with a new concept, which is quite similar to Fookyew if you know what I mean.

The vibrant red color dominates most of the decorations, combines with black and yellow elements, including those Chinese mural paintings on the walls that create a modern yet dramatic Chinese atmosphere to the overall decor. The dining room is divided into two parts where the first level is the non-smoking area, while the second floor is a smoking area. They did not allow me to sit upstairs because that area is open for public only after 6 pm, said one of the waitresses to me.

Because they’re still new in Senopati, they held a special promotion for all dim sum menu, only Rp. 18.000,- valid every day (during Ramadhan only). Of course, we’re tempted to try their dim sum and decided to skip the other menu such as appetizers, main course, or desserts because our stomach was already full with lunch beforehand. By looking at their dim sum section, I can say that Asiatale has a pretty good selection of timeless favorites which is nice for both newcomers and regulars alike.

Dim Sum menu is divided into sections, such as steamed items, Cheong fun, baked, fried, and pan-fried. I ordered nine items of dim sum, and the food came out quickly, but

unfortunately, three of them (Crab and Chicken Xiao Long Bao, Crystal Chives Prawn Dumpling, and Baked Chicken Chasiu Bao) sold out. So, we only had the Asiatale Har Gao, Chicken & Prawn Shumai, Scallop Shumai with Seaweed, Prawn Cheong Fun, and Salted Egg Yolk Sesame Ball.

All of them were delicious, but the highlight of this visit was the Fried Sesame Balls which stuffed with salted egg yolk. It was so good, and we ended up ordering some more of this. Best eaten when it’s still warm so you can enjoy the runny salted egg inside.

Last but not least, we ordered the Asia Punch (IDR 100K), a refreshing mocktail drink, which consisting of pineapple, lemon, guava, grenadine syrup, and lime, with a top up soda to accompany our meals. If you see my picture now, the Asia Punch is served in such a cute shanghai bottle, which is actually meant for the cocktail drink named Star High. When I was there, they said that from today, and until Ramadhan ends, they do not sell alcohol drinks. I was a bit sad, but then I requested them to present the Asia Punch Mocktail in the same bottle, and they agreed to do so, yay!

Overall, it was a nice dim sum experience we had at Asiatale Resto and Bar. I would recommend this place to try out if you’re craving some good dim sum and Asian cuisine in South Jakarta. This restaurant is a welcome addition to the Senopati area, and I can’t wait for my next visit.
