And again, I want to share another place that you should visit when you travel to Jogjakarta. Even though it was only a short trip to Yogya, we had good experience from our road trip last month. Besides the Upside Down World Jogja, the new tourist attractions that just opened in July 2016, you can try a variety of home-cooked Javanese and Kalimantan dishes at Warung Masakan Omah Bu Ageng, and visit one of the popular dessert spots in Jogja, Il Tempo Del Gelato.
As suggested by our friends in Yogya, we went to this place right after we bought some souvenirs from Hamzah Batik (was Mirota Batik). We were quite surprised when we got there because Il Tempo Del Gelato or commonly known as Tempo Gelato was very crowded. Located at Jl. Prawirotaman No. 43, Brontokusuman, Mergangsan, Yogya, Tempo Gelato serves a nice selection of gelato and sorbet. This place instantly reminded me of Gusto, a gelato place that is popular and well known in Bali. I was excited and walked to look at the gelato flavors, but guys, the first thing you need to do when you’re here is to look for the cashier, because you’ll have to pay for your order before you’ve actually ordered it.
Il Tempo Del Gelato
Jl. Prawirotaman No. 43, Brontokusuman, Mergangsan, Kota Yogyakarta, Jogja (Indonesia)
Operating Hour: 11:00 – 22:00
There are four different sizes of cups; Small (2 flavors, IDR 20K), Medium (3 flavors, IDR 40K), Big (4 flavors, IDR 65K), X-big (5 flavors, IDR 115K). Because I want two flavors of Gelato in a cone, I pay for the small size which is only Rp. 25.000,-, it was very cheap! They gave me a receipt showing the paid amount, along with a queue number. Right after that, I moved to the gelato counter and began looking for the flavors that I want. I love gelato, and I like to try weird flavors, ha-ha.. It’s why I ordered the Basil (kemangi) flavor, and mixed it with the Mango flavor. I think it’s gonna be weird, but surprisingly it tasted so good! It was rich, lightly sweet, and smooth texture! The good thing is they also allowed me to sample before buying! Yay! Oh, if you love chocolate, you might like the Spicy Chocolate flavor. It’s such an unusual flavor, either you like it or you hate it. Ha-ha.. Overall, it was a great experience and we would love to come back again to this place when we visit Jogja again. Tempo Gelato makes a great dessert stop whenever you want it, so don’t forget to put this in your culinary list!
