[NEW] Chef Gianfranco Pirrone’s Dinner Party with Santa Margherita Wine at Rosso Shangri-La

Italian food remains as one of the most popular choices when it comes to eating out with enough variety of flavor to suit most people’s palates. And Rosso at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta is the place to go when you’re looking for authentic and sensational Italian cuisine because Rosso is one of the most well-known Italian fine dining restaurant in Jakarta, which again, consistently received an award as The Best Restaurant, Bar, and Club Award from Now! Jakarta this year. It’s amazing! We were grateful to be invited and enjoy scrumptious Italian delicacies at Rosso’s especially to witness and celebrate the arrival of Rosso’s new chef, Gianfranco Pirrone, accompanied with Santa Margherita Wine.

As usual, Rosso has its own characteristic that cannot be found elsewhere. The modern, and elegant dining room at Rosso looks bright and vibrant with RED color in most of their decoration that creates a warm, and romantic vibe for the diners. My favorite sitting area, of course, the dining area with large windows overlooking the garden.

While waiting for the dinner, we mingled with the other guests during the pre-dinner cocktail which took place in Rosso Lounge. There was a lot of canapés and the free flow of Santa Margherita Italian wine to be paired with all the canapes.  If compared to the red wine (2011 Santa Margherita Chianti Classico Riserva), my personal favorite was the Pinot Grigio Valdadige Santa Margherita wine, which was light, crisp, and has an intense aroma with a pleasant golden apple aftertaste. It went well with Bruschetta al Pomodoro and Crudo di Tonno. After a while, suddenly Rosso’s new Italian Chef, Chef Franco showed himself, and he began to sing his favorite song. Although I’m not sure what song it was, it’s

certainly Italian song, romantic, and he has a beautiful voice. He has a natural talent to become a singer and it’s such an entertaining performances that night! Chef Franco, who was born and raised in Sicily (Italy), considers himself a “creative perfectionist.” That’s why you’ll find all the dishes in Rosso at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta remains authentic and of course, with some fresh influences which he got from other regions. And you know what? Diners can get 25% off on F&B when booking restaurants through their online reservation (valid until 30 September 2016), you can click here to book online.

So, when it came to dinner time, we were seated in the VIP room which also has an open kitchen in the room. Special for that night, Chef Franco prepared some special dishes, paired with the chosen wine, Santa Margherita Chianti Classico, 2011. Three flavorful main courses were served on one plate, and we were impressed with everything. From Bistecca di Salmone con Salsa Alla Senape (grilled salmon fillet with tomato sauce), Filetto di Manzo in Salsa al Gorgonzola (beef tenderloin in Gorgonzola Cheese sauce), and Parmigiana di Melanzane (Eggplant Parmigiana with Buffalo Mozzarella).

We enjoyed everything as the conversation continued and the wine flowed, followed by a couple of desserts, such as the Sicilian Cannoli, Tiramisu cake, and Cassata. Gosh, everything was so delicious! If you love the smooth, creamy and light coffee flavor in a cake, you should try the Tiramisu cake in Rosso. It was so good! While the crisp shells of Cannoli filled with fluffy whipped ricotta filling that wasn’t too sweet but definitely fresh. It was absolutely a delight, including

the Cassata. Overall, it was another wonderful evening at Rosso! The food, the wine, the atmosphere, and the service was nothing short of perfect. I highly recommend everyone to visit Rosso at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and experience the creativity made by Chef Franco. Thank you Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta for having us!
