[LONDON] Darwin Brasserie – 360° Panoramic View of London from Sky Garden

Yay! Finally, we managed to enjoy an excellent lunch at Darwin Brasserie, which located on the 36th floor of the Sky Garden, London. We just went there yesterday, and until now, we have this wonderful feeling every time we look into the pictures and videos we made there. It wasn’t difficult to find Darwin Brasserie, because this restaurant is part of the Sky Garden which is located at the top of the Walkie Talkie (officially known as 20 Fenchurch Street) tower. It’s said that this restaurant has one of the best views in London, at first I wasn’t sure, but now I’ve to admit them, it was truly a breathtaking experience!

When we arrived in this building, I noticed there was a long queue in front of the lobby. Lucky us, we had booked a table for two adults in advance through their website so that we could go directly to a

separate line. Apparently, they would reject anyone who comes directly to this building, either for free visits, or to eat at one of their restaurants. Yes, you heard me. Access to the Sky Garden is free of charge, but there’s a limited number of tickets available. That’s why I suggest to book in advance due to the number of visitors expected. Click here to book a free visit. Before we go up to the 35th floor, all guests must pass through a security check, and tripod is not allowed to use here.

The Sky Garden is known as London’s highest public garden, 155 meters up from the ground, offers a 360-degree beautiful view of London. There are two main restaurants is available at the Sky Garden; Fenchurch Restaurant for those who like to eat meat, and seafood, and Darwin Brasserie which offers a classic British cuisine. If you want to drink some cocktails, you can visit the Sky Pod Bar, or if you prefer to have fine wines, try to visit the Fenchurch Terrace. There’s also City Garden Bar which offers breakfast and salad bowls, including cocktails. It seems like they have something for everyone!

So for lunch, we booked a table for two at Darwin Brasserie, and as expected, the views of London from up here was truly amazing! The menu offered interesting enough, and we decided to have a Sea Trout (£24.50) and the Goodwood Estate Beef Burger (£18.50) for the main course. As for the drink, we ordered a freshly squeezed pink grapefruit (£3.50), and London Breakfast Hot Tea (£3.50). Before our main courses arrived, the waiter asked if we wanted Olives and Bread, and he

also offered if we would like still water as well. It’s common for such a classy restaurant to provide bread and olives which at first I thought it was a complementary because they are usually provided free of charge, but here, all of them charged to the bill.

However, I really like the bright, clean, and cozy atmosphere in Darwin Brasserie and without realizing, we spend 3 hours there! Ha-ha.. The food was served quickly, and very well presented. The Sea Trout was perfectly cooked, served on a bed of spinach, with mussels broth, and samphire. As for the burger, they use confit beef short rib which makes it different the common beef burger. It’s served on a toasted seeded bun, loaded with melted cheese, barbecue sauce, dill pickles, and house slaw, plus truffle fries on the side. I did not expect the food to be that good, considering that this place, Sky Garden, is one of the tourist attractions that you should visit when in London, but yes, it tasted so good as it looks. Highly recommended! On top of that, we can see the most spectacular views of London and beyond.
