[NEW SPOT] Ootoya Authentic Japanese Food at Little Tokyo Kota Kasablanka

Are you a fan of Japanese food? Yes, or no, you definitely don’t wanna miss this place! There’s a new area called Little Tokyo located on the Upper Ground floor of Kota Kasablanka Mall, South Jakarta. As the name implies, Little Tokyo is a new dining area which is connected to the Food Society area at UG level, where we can explore Japanese cuisine in one location. Yay! So, just a few days ago, we were given the opportunity by Mall Kota Kasablanka to take over their Instagram account, and we explored what’s inside this new area. Some of the established F&B brands are available here, such as Donburi Ichiya, Menya Sakura, Ootoya, Nama Sushi, and Zhuma (opening soon).

It’s nice to find Ootoya, one of our favorite restaurants in Little Tokyo, Mall Kota Kasablanka. As you may already know, Ootoya is a popular Japanese restaurant originated from Japan, and take pride in serving authentic Japanese home cooked fare to the general public since 1958. To start our meal, we had Tofu Salad (IDR 39K) at Ootoya. It’s a very simple salad, which consisted of homemade tofu, Jako (small fish), fresh vegetables, and Nori, served with vinegar and shoyu based

dressing, but it’s very popular among the girls in Japan. I really liked it because it’s served cold, low calorie for my diet, and very refreshing! For the main course, we tried Hokke fish, as recommended by them. I heard from them that Hokke is a common name for Okhotsk atka mackerel in Japan, and is very popular in Japan. The fish was cut in the middle, laid flat, and charcoal grilled, served with grated daikon radish, white rice, miso soup, pickles, and hijikini (simmered Hijiki seaweed). I eat a lot of fish, but it was a new experience with Hokke. It tasted slightly salty, firm in texture yet juicy and so delicious! Although there are bones, we can easily take them off, so no need to worry!

And finally, the dessert! I recommend you to end your meal with Blamanje (IDR 35K) when in Ootoya. Blamanje consisted of soymilk pudding, served with matcha ice cream beneath it. The pudding was so smooth, best to enjoyed it with the brown sugar. It was absolutely simple and tasty!

Overall, we had a great experience, and once again, Ootoya is still the best place to eat if you are looking for authentic Japanese comfort food. That’s why we keep coming back for more and never disappointed. There’s just something special about Ootoya. Nice vibe with minimalist Japanese style, authentic Japanese food, elegant service and attentive staff, you should try Ootoya, at Little Tokyo, Mall Kota Kasablanka.
