[MALAYSIA] Tasty Malaysian Chinese Food at Stadium Negara Restaurant

My goodness! When I edited all the photos from Stadium Negara Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), I remember the taste again, and really want to go back again soon! If you search for the restaurant name through Google Maps, the appearance of this restaurant may not look good, and you may be thinking, let’s skip this one and look for another restaurant. But you know what? After we had dinner together with all the participants of AirAsia Santan Food Festival that night, I highly recommend you to try Stadium Negara Restaurant when you travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As a first time visitor, I immediately recognized that Restoran Stadium Negara serves Chinese food when I see the red and big round tables in the outdoor area. My guess was right! Most of the sitting areas are outdoors, so just wear casual clothes when dining at Restoran Stadium Negara. We were so starving, but luckily the serving time was fast, and we enjoyed everything from the beginning! Starting from the Shrimp in Butter and Sweet Soy Sauce (Udang Goreng Mentega), Nasi Goreng Yang Chow (Yang Zhou Fried Rice), Salted Egg Calamari, to the last meal, Steam Fish.

The Buttered Fried Shrimp came in medium size, and it tasted like what mom cooks for us at home. It’s a typical Chinese food – comfort food! The smell and taste of deliciously sweet and saucy shrimp, oh my gosh! I want it again! Not to forget, the shrimp and squid in the salted egg-yolk sauce were so delicious!! A little bit crunchy on the outside, chewy but tender, with bold salted egg flavors, so addicting! We’re so spoiled with some of the freshest and delicious seafood ever in Malaysia!

Another highlight of the dinner was the Chili Crab at Stadium Negara Restaurant! The chili sauce was rich in flavors and quite spicy for me, but I just can’t stop enjoying it with the fried mantau! Kangkung Balachan and Yang Chow Fried Rice was another favorite too! While we almost finished eating, they served us with Steamed Fish in light soy sauce. It’s a Cantonese style, simple but I loved it!

Overall, it was a great and unforgettable dinner for us. Before leaving the restaurant, Anna and Nadya from AirAsia gave me a surprise Birthday cake because it was my birthday that day. Thank you so much, I was really amazed! And the surprise gift from the Group CEO of AirAsia, Tony Fernandes, earlier that day was the most amazing birthday surprise I have ever received. Again, thank you so much AirAsia, you rock my world!
