[NEW SPOT] Kastera Cheese Cake by Luna Maya

Who wants to try this yummy and happening pillow cake, Kastera Cheese cake? Well, I have good news for you! If Singapore has Le Castella which is a pillow cake brand brought from Japan and just opened in May 2017, now we have Kastera by Luna Maya. As present in the brand names, it’s a pillow cake brand by Luna Maya herself. I was invited to their store to attend the Grand Opening session with some media, and food blogger friends, and now I’m happy to share a short review about this cake.

Even until now, a relentless wave of Japanese Cheesecake style steals our attention. As you may know or have heard, pillow-cake like this still become a trend today in most countries, such as in Korea, Japan, Singapore, etc. Kastera by Luna Maya tries to grab the Indonesian market with its style of Cheesecake that similar to other existing pillow cake brands. Raffi Ahmad (MangoBomb), Ayu Dewi, and Edric Tjandra were also there to support Luna Maya at the event. After the opening ceremony’s over, we had to wait for almost 2 hours until the cake ready, showcased and cut in full view in front of us.

So, is it worth the wait for this jiggly, yummy sponge cake by Kastera Cheese Cake? All the cake are freshly baked in the back kitchen, and we can see it’s oozing cheesy runny once it’s cut. Omo, it looks so good! I haven’t tried other pillow-cake brands yet, but in my opinion, this Kastera Cheesecake was delicious and worth trying. The cheese was really mild in terms of cheese flavor to suit my preference.

However, the taste was a bit different after we leave it at room temperature for several hours. The texture of this Kastera Cheesecake by Luna Maya is quite much like a classic sponge cake, unlike the airy Japanese cheesecake I’ve eaten so far. Moist and fluffy, a nice combination of sweet and light cheese flavors, we enjoyed it! Thank you for reading.
