RECOMMENDED PLACES TO EAT:

1. The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden

It’s nice to be here at The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden, known as the popular fish and chip fast food restaurant chain in the UK and guess what? They just opened the 1st overseas branch outside the UK located in Sky Avenue Mall, Genting Highlands at Resorts World Genting last month!⁣ What differentiates them from the others is the fish itself and how they use the flour dough. You can opt for Codfish or Haddock, but I recommend you try Haddock fish, their signature dish. It was nicely cooked, tasted rich & flavorful.

2. High Line Rooftop Market

Do not miss to visit High Line Rooftop Market, a luxe food market concept which combined rooftop dining and sky dining which allows you to enjoy the cool crisp Genting Highlands air while enjoying a variety of foods from 7 unique dining options, consisting of Carnivore, Seafood Market, Jon Bing, Asian Heroes, Brooklyn Brewery, Back in Time, and Burgers & Shots. It’s the same concept with food court so guests can mix and match F&B selections and enjoying it in the communal dining area. One of the highlights was Lobster Nasi Lemak. It may look fancy but once you tried the steamed coconut rice with all the condiments (hard-boiled egg, anchovies, etc) you’ll want more than one serving. The rendang sauce indeed made everything so tasty! Not to forget, the Seafood Bucket from the Seafood Market at High Line was so tasty, especially with the Kam Heong and Butter Cream sauce which costs 78RM/bucket (contains a combination of squids, prawns, clams, black mussels, corn, and broccoli).

3. Jom Makan Street Food

If you’re looking for some of Malaysia’s best value-for-money street food, you should find Jom Makan Street Food which is located at Level 4, SkyAvenue Mall at Resorts World Genting, Malaysia. Operating daily from 8 am to 10 pm, Jom Makan Street Food offers guests a variety of classic Malaysian dishes, and all of them are Halal Food! Must-try recommendations: Nasi Lemak with juicy and big Rendang Chicken served with fragrant turmeric rice, and Garlic Naan set served with North Indian-style Tandoori Chicken Curry and veggies, and Traditional Teh Tarik at Sri Paandi Curry House. Believe me, their Teh Tarik was really good, and we enjoyed 2 glasses to accompanied our brunch that day! Ha-ha…

4. Medan Selera Food Court

If you’re around the Ground Floor of Sky Avenue Mall (Resorts World Genting) and feel hungry, you can look for the all-new Medan Selera Food Court, located just below Bona Cinemas at Sky Avenue Mall. This dining outlet offers a diverse selection of local favorites, ranging from rice dishes, noodles, snacks, and covers cuisines inspired by Western, Asian and Middle-Eastern cooking. We tried Laksa Nyonya and were satisfied with the coconut-based broth from the soup; it tasted vibrant and tasty, with a balanced sweet and spicy taste in every mouthful. Oh, we loved it!

5. Motorino Pizza

For all pizza lovers, I recommend you to try some of the best pizzas at Motorino Pizza that is hailed as the best authentic Neopolitan Italian pizza restaurant in New York! Apparently, Motorino Pizza already has multiple outlets in New York, two in Hong Kong and Manila, one in Singapore, and now its first restaurant in Malaysia, located at Level 1, Sky Avenue Mall, Resorts World Genting, Malaysia. Owned and operated by Belgian-Italian born Chef Mathieu Palombino, people can now enjoy freshly made Neopolitan Pizza, all made in wood ovens imported from Italy, and all pizza are loaded with generous toppings! Psst, if you come here, don’t forget to try their Meatballs as well ’coz they’re very tender and delicious! Recommended!

THEME PARK You Should VISIT in Resorts World Genting

1. THE SKYTROPOLIS FUNLAND

As I recall, the indoor theme park in Genting is not like this. Apparently, they have just done a major renovation and this time, all the games have become more interesting than before. The Skytropolis Funland, a family-friendly fun park that is located on Level 1, First World Plaza, features more than 20 new exciting rides, including the classic merry-go-round ride like the one I’ve tried in the picture below. The atmosphere was even nicer and I noticed there are so many new exciting restaurants as well available in the park! It’s worth checking out if you come to Genting Highlands!

2. THE VOID

I did not expect, the reality Hyper VR game at The VOID which is located on Level 1, First World Plaza, Genting Highlands was so real that every player could interact in a real way like being in a movie. The VOID is a large virtual space using custom VR technology along with physical stages to create immersive experiences that inspire exploration and engagement, fending off virtual enemies with their weapons, the biggest of its kind outside of North America, and the first in Asia is located in Resorts World Genting, wow! Combining Hollywood characters and storylines with state-of-the-art technology, physical stages, and multi-sensory effects, The VOID offers the most immersive virtual reality experience in the world. Players can see, smell, touch, and experience the impossible. There are 4 choices of films played, and 1 – 4 people are needed per team for each VR game with a total duration of about 15 minutes. Even though the ticket price is expensive, I strongly recommend you try it. P.S: If you like challenges and are not afraid of heights, try playing STAR WARS: SECRETS OF THE EMPIRE. But if you want to play something funny and cute, try playing RALPH BREAKS VR.

3. Ripley’s Adventureland Believe It or Not! Odditorium

If you’ve been to Ripley’s Adventureland in Genting Highlands for a long time, I think it’s time for you to enter this place again because of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Adventureland just reopened in March 2018 after being closed for 9 months of renovations. Everything inside this attraction is completely new and features Ripley’s latest, must-see exhibits which include The New York City Freedom Tower made from over 470,000 matchsticks, Willard Wigan’s Micro-Miniatures, The Pumpkin Carriage Boat, etc. What’s interesting for us was there are lots of weird and amazing facts, and many good photo opportunity too. It’s fun!

4. Jurassic Park Research Center

Part of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Adventureland includes Jurassic Research Center, a kid-friendly trek through a prehistoric land full of dinosaurs, and Zombie Outbreak, a terrifying live-action haunted attraction. It was really fun and exciting! At the Jurrasic Park Research Center, you can meet a T-rex or two along the way and if you have kids, they will be excited to learn more about dinosaur fossils inside the park. There’s no game or interactions in the park, but all dinosaurs look real as seen in the Jurassic Park movie, especially with the sound effects and forest atmosphere, good for one time visit.

5. Zombie Outbreak

If you like something scary and thrilling, try the Zombie Outbreak and beware of the zombie attack when you enter this place! Inside is like a maze in a haunted house, with a dark and spooky atmosphere to keep players feels terrified during the game. Even though it wasn’t frightening to me, it was a fun thrilling experience for me and my husband.

6. Zipline Eagle Landing

For adrenaline junkies, triggered your adrenaline rush to experience the wonders of almost flying from the fourth floor, 200 meters down to the first floor of the Sky Avenue Mall, Genting Highlands. I can’t believe that I did this! Dare to try this?

7. SkySymphony Genting

For a free show, get ready and prepare your camera and your eyes to watch SkySymphony Genting, located on Level 1 of Sky Avenue Shopping Mall (in front of the main entrance of SkyCasino). Here you can find 1,001 winch balls suspended from a four-level ceiling as well as gigantic screens installed throughout the mall’s main atrium. Basically, it’s a combination of visual storytelling with the blaze of colors, rhythmic lighting, and music that lasts around 15 minutes and is performed every two hours between 10:00 and 18:00. Wonderful!

9. Visit Chin Swee Temple

I’ve been to Genting Highlands many times but didn’t know that there’s Chin Swee Temple, which is located less than 2km to Genting Highlands. To reach the temple is very easy, just use the Skyway cable car from Resorts World Genting to Chin Swee Temple and back (you should buy return tickets Skyway cable car). If you want to get a spectacular experience, try the glass-floor gondola because a breathtaking view of the 130-million-year-old rainforest below awaits. And I suggest you go there in the afternoon around 3 pm and spend 2 hours there to enjoy nature and panoramic view of the highland from the top of the Pagoda. Lots of fog and so many nice photo spots in this place, plus the cool weather, it’s absolutely refreshing!
