Have you heard about this new Pasta House AW Kitchen by Akira Watanabe which just opened at Plaza Senayan on June 1st, 2014? It is a franchised restaurant from Nakameguro – Japan, and this outlet is the first International branch outside Japan managed by Jaddi Foods Group. AW Kitchen is named after the managing chef of the restaurant, Akira Watanabe. AW Kitchen was first opened in Tokyo, Japan since 2004 by the famous Japanese Celebrity Chef, Akira Watanabe. He presents a new dining concept where Italian cuisine combined with the finest Japanese ingredients to give customers dining experience to a whole new level. Sounds interesting, right? The restaurant itself is very nicely designed, and we enjoyed the ambience.

AW Kitchen by Akira Watanabe has a great selection of pasta, and they are quite different from the other pasta houses because the concept of Japanese Italian fusion menu like this is unique and different. This place has already become hits among all food lovers in Jakarta not long after its opening, wow! I’ve tried some of their most favorite food when I visited this place last Thursday; therefore, I would like to give some of my recommendation for you to try. Check this out guys!

Mocktails of The Day

"Mocktails

Black Angus Beef Tataki with Soy Truffle Sauce, IDR 108K

Pan seared Black Angus Tenderloin Beef Tataki in Japanese style, served with a soy grated daikon sauce and a hint of truffle aroma. The aroma is nice and when you mix all together; it becomes really tasty. The fresh green rocket salads provide a beautiful contrast to the flavorful steak. Must try!

"Black

Tuna Salad with Japanese Radish Sauce, IDR 65K

Besides the salad above, there is also this Tuna Salad, which instantly becomes a winning dish for me. The salad dressing is quite similar with the one above, slightly salty with an inviting aroma, using only the freshest ingredients, but I loved the Tuna version so much. Must try!

"Tuna

Fried Fish Ball with Shrimp and Scallop, IDR 85K

Fresh shrimp and minced scallop meat wrapped, fried, and coated with thinly sliced Japanese Gyoza’s skin. These crisp fried shrimp balls have a nice contrast of textures and shrimp flavor. Crunchy and tasty ‘dimsum‘ like fish balls! Recommended!

"Fried

Spaghettini Pescatore, IDR 148K

Spaghettini Pescatore is a Seafood Pasta in Italian Style with Tomato based sauce. Here they serve it with plenty of assorted freshest seafood. There are at least four different types of seafood within the sauce, such as tiger shrimp, clams, green mussels and squid. Simple, light and delicious. Recommended!

"Spaghetti

Spaghettini in Garlic Oil with Spicy Cod Roe & Japanese Mushrooms, IDR 138K

How could it go wrong, when pasta, mushrooms and garlic comes together like this! That’s why this menu becomes my most favorite pasta. Spicy cod roe and assorted Japanese mushrooms (Shiitake, King Oyster, Enoki and Champignon) are simply served with perfectly cooked al-dente pasta with Garlic Oil sauce and Cayenne. The nori flakes complement the overall flavors. Love it! A must try!

"Spaghettini

Risotto in Ikasumi Sauce, IDR 88K

This risotto is really delicious! The perfectly cooked risotto comes with creamy and rich squid ink without fishy smells at all, served with some slices of squid, tomatoes and sprinkles of Parmesan cheese on top. A must try!

"Risotto

Black Angus Sirloin Beef, IDR 198K

This Black Angus Sirloin Beef was served with Potato Gratin, some fresh vegetables and three types of sauce; Ginger sauce, Wasabi sauce and Porcini (mushroom) sauce. Ginger and Wasabi has a unique taste but among the three sauces, Porcini sauce turns out to be my favorite sauce while the others love the Wasabi sauce so much.

"Black

"Black

Panna Cotta and Berry Sauce, IDR 58K

This panna cotta has the right balance of sweetness, but too bad; the texture is different. It should be lightly wobbly not rigid, creamy and smooth. Perhaps it is too long in the fridge, so they need to make an improvement for this.

"Panacotta

Banana and Strawberry Tiramisu, IDR 68K

Luckily, there’s this banana and strawberry tiramisu cake, which has a nice texture, light, smooth and not too sweet. My favorite!

"Banana

"Banana

Chocolate Profiterole, IDR 68K

These warm homemade profiteroles were drizzled with hot chocolate sauce and served with some fresh fruits such as slices of strawberry and oranges.

"Chocolate

"Chocolate

Overall, I really enjoyed all the food served at AW Kitchen by Akira Watanabe, especially the Ikasumi Risotto, both Pasta and Salad. So, if you’re looking for a unique twist of Italian Japanese style meals, definitely stop by at AW Kitchen. The staffs are well-trained, and cozy ambiance makes everyone can enjoy.
