There is a Japanese Fast Food Restaurant called Don Don Tei that I found in the Tempozan Marketplace, Osaka, Japan that located in the same location as the Kaiyukan Aquarium. I’ve walked through another restaurant and finally know that the price of all food at Don Don Tei is quite reasonable. I also saw a lot of people buy food at this restaurant. That’s why I decided to try one of the menus for dinner with my husband before playing in Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel. Don Don Tei is known as a Donburi shop in Osaka. Here we can find various bowls of cooked rice with some other food on top (different toppings).

What happens when you visit a small city like Osaka is when all menus are only available in Japanese. All menus in the picture look alike, and they don’t have an English menu. Fortunately, my husband could read Hiragana and Katakana most of the letters while he could read the Kanji for a few short words. Although his Japanese language skill is not perfect, but I’m thankful for his ability. Yay, thank God! 😀

Because both of us are a pork eater, so we ended up with a menu containing pork such as Tonkatsu Donburi comes with a mini cold Soba in one package.

Tonkatsu Donburi or Katsudon, ¥720 nett

No need to doubt the quality of white rice in Japan. All of the rice is really good and moist!! The Pork Cutlet is perfectly fried and very flavorful. Not to forget, on top of the pork cutlet, there is a delicious white egg to complement the menu. I also like the yellow radish pickles served on the side. It’s so delicious!

They also have some Halal menus, such as Tendon (Tempura Donburi), Unadon (Unagi Donburi), Oyakodon (Chicken and Egg), etc. Overall, I’m really satisfied with the food and I personally would recommend you to try Don Don Tei to enjoy a variety of delicious Japanese comfort food. The food is inexpensive and great for lunch or dinner. The portions are good enough for even big eaters; that’s why I shared this menu together with my husband because I couldn’t finish it alone.

SUBSCRIBE NOW on Myfunfoodiary’s YouTube to see our Travel Tips Videos!

Click Here —> Backpacking Itinerary 2 Weeks in Japan Guide for your reference
