Hey-ho! There’s something new in town, WooYoo Ice Cream, which serves Korean pure milk soft ice-cream with honey. This newly opened dessert cafe is located at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area, a few blocks away after the PONG Store and just before the Nasi Campur Atek PIK. I easily recognize WooYoo that has been opened since December 21, 2014 from its honeycomb shape looks on the exterior of the cafe. At that time, we’re still in Bali for our short vacation; that is why we are not able to attend the opening of this cafe, which is run by our Korean friend in Jakarta. Congratulations Steve for the opening!

Honey Chips, IDR 38K & Misugaru Ice Cream, IDR 35K

WooYoo serves a wide variety of ice cream with different toppings and can be served in a cup, cone, or snail bread. The ice-cream itself is quite creamy, milky, and not too sweet. On below picture is the Honey Chips, a simple Korean pure milk soft ice-cream topped with honeycomb. I’m not sure since when but using the honeycomb as a topping for ice cream become a trend lately in Jakarta. I heard this trend already started in Korea last year. The Misugaru (on the right side) has a unique flavor than the others and become one of our most favorite because it’s topped with Korean cereal, soybean powder, and honey. In Korea, the kids love to eat this cereal. Both flavors were yummy and the presentation were interesting, but don’t be surprised; the ice-cream only filled half of the cup because there’s dry ice at the bottom of it to create smoke effects as seen in the photograph.

Pop Monster Ice Cream, IDR 35K

Another variety of ice cream where caramel popcorn mixed with Caramel sauce as toppings, suitable for popcorn lovers.

Choco Almond Schneeballen, IDR 20K

While some other stores sell sandwiches, bagels, etc., WooYoo try to give something different to the Indonesian market. This one is called Schneeballen, a traditional cookie made from shortcrust pastry, originated from Rothenburg, Germany, and formed into a ball-like shape. It’s actually powdered sugar-covered pastries covered with lots of flavors, and also booming lately in Korea. To eat Schneeballen, first we covered it with the paper, then smashed it several times until it breaks into bite-sized pieces. We tried the Choco Almond flavor, and it was crunchy, not too sweet, and enjoyable to eat. This could be a nice treat to accompany coffee or tea any time of the day.

"Schneebalen

Nune Tine Caramel, IDR 7K
Mochi Mochi, IDR 10K
Dacgonaise, IDR 12K

In addition to the above menus, they also serve other pastries such as Nune Tine; crunchy puff pastry with caramel flavors, and Dacgonaise (the dark chocolate color at the front) which is similar to macarons, crunchy on the outside, but chewy on the inside. If you want something else unique and savory, try Mochi Mochi (the round shape pastries on the middle) which has that chewy texture of Mochi. We tried the cheese and original flavors that day, and enjoyed both of them especially the cheese flavor.

"Pastries

From my overall experience, their ice cream tasted good, but they will need to improve the basic flavor of ice cream because not everyone is a milk lover. It will be nice if they can offer other flavors of ice creams too. However, you should give it a try and don’t forget to try their unique Korean pastries too.
