Now let’s get back to some of the recommended places to eat in Bali. I want to share with you about my dining experience at Nampu Restaurant, which is located at the Grand Hyatt Bali, Nusa Dua. Nampu is a well-known Japanese restaurant in Bali that offers a variety of authentic Japanese cuisine, in a rustic Japanese Country Inn the Izakaya style. It’s classic! I instantly fell in love with the ambiance as I walked through the semi-outdoor terrace and viewing the beautiful Japanese garden before we reached the main dining room.

Besides that, the Teppanyaki room (near the entrance), Sushi Bar, and Tatami room are also available at Nampu, to give a different dining experience to diners. There’s also an open kitchen area where diners can see the preparation of food by the Japanese Chef, who works together with the local chef too.

A refreshing option before the main course; deep-fried soft-shell crab and seaweed salad, served with a simple onion dressing.

Both of us loved Kushiage so much, and when we find this dish in Nampu, it reminds us of the Kushiage that we’ve tried in Japan. There are numbers of Kushiage options, and both are the best! Button mushrooms stuffed with cheese, and shiitake mushrooms stuffed with minced chicken, best eaten with the special dipping sauce.

While Kushiage refers to deep-fried skewers, Kushiyaki is referring to grilled skewers, and you can opt-in Gyu Kushi, one of their favorites. Grilled beef skewers served with yuzu ponzu sauce. Juicy beef tenderloin with sweet and salty flavor at the same time. Delicious!

From the sushi roll section, I’d like to highlight three flavors; Unagi Bou Sushi, Kani Maki, and Salmon Salad Maki. All of them were so fresh and delicious, especially the Unagi Bou Sushi; maybe it’s because I’m a Unagi lover.

Eel (Unagi) is high in protein, vitamin A, and vitamin E; that’s why both of us loved it so much! A scrumptious grilled eel maki with prawn, egg, and cucumber. Classic and irresistible!

A classic Crab Roll Sushi where deep-fried soft-shell crab mixed with fish eggs. The crispness inside the sushi made us want to eat some more.

Another form of the simple sushi that you should try at Nampu. It’s a delicious combination of fresh salmon, avocado, lettuce and fish eggs. So yummy and addictive!

We also tried the assorted Sashimi Moriawase, beautifully presented in a Japanese traditional platter. It consists of very fresh raw fish sliced into thin slices. If you want to taste the freshest Sashimi (Salmon, Tuna, etc), you should try this one when you dine in at Nampu.

Cod fish or Gindara always be my favorite fish until now, especially when cooked in Teriyaki sauce. Cod fish is classified as mild but meaty white fish; that’s why I like it. The presentation may not look appealing, but the cod fish was perfectly grilled, tender, flavorful, slightly sweet, and a little bit salty, indeed delicious!

Last but not least, we tried some of their signature desserts. The selections are all delicious, but my favorite would be the Peanut Butter Mousse. It was a rich combination of peanut and chocolate, so delightful!

Japanese shiratama Mochi, red beans, seasonal fruits, comes in green tea or vanilla gelato.

Nampu serves a wide variety of Japanese delights, starts from fresh Sushi, Sashimi, Grilled Yakitori, Rice Bowls, Tempura, and many more. Lots of mouth-watering menus that made us drool and luckily I was there with my husband and Balifoodies friend, so we can try some of their favorite menus for dinner. We started our dinner with something fresh such as the Kani Salad, followed with the assorted Kushiage (deep-fried skewers) and some Sushi.

Kani Salad, IDR 130K
