We heard that Jamie’s Italian Restaurant has opened in Kuta Beach, Bali on June 1, 2015. Incidentally, at the end of June 2015, we had a short vacation in Bali; Therefore, we decided to have lunch at Jamie Oliver’s newest branch after he succeeded with the Singapore branch. Oh, by the way..! Are you also a fan of Jamie Oliver, the famous British Celebrity Chef who inspires people with his recipe book “Everyday Super Food”, and many other recipes? Yeah, I’m sure you’re already familiar with his profile. Well, the Bali branch also adapted the rustic and casual style that has become the hallmark of the British chef. This brand-new restaurant split into two dining areas: Alfresco and Indoor areas that are divided into two floors. The first floor offers the bar, while the second floor partially functioned as a semi-open kitchen.

We were quite surprised by their menu because the price is higher than probably all other places in Bali. But because it was our first time at Jamie’s Oliver, we wanted to try. I think people will also come to Jamie’s to try the ambiance and the Italian foods that they offer in Bali. We didn’t want to drink alcohol in the afternoon, so we skip the spritz, cocktails, and wine section, and eventually ordered the Homemade Italian Lemonade and Berry Blast for IDR 90K each (before tax and service). Both non-alcoholic cocktails made with simple ingredients, tasted very refreshing, and great for hot summer days in Bali, but unfortunately very expensive for what we get.

Posh Chips, IDR 55K

From the snack section, we ordered Posh Chips as recommended by the waiter that time. Thick cut of floury potatoes, served with truffle oil and a lot of grated Parmesan on top. It was simply delicious, crisp, and addictive!

Crab and Avocado Bruschetta, IDR 85K

While, from the antipasti section, we had the Crab and Avocado Bruschetta, and it was a nice starter. The shredded crab and mashed avocado served on toasted ciabatta, then topped with natural yoghurt, apple, mint, and a right balance of lime and chili.

"Crab

Prawn Linguine, IDR 130K

They told me that all the pasta and some other materials were made directly at the restaurant. That’s why I ordered one of the pasta, which was also recommended by them, Prawn Linguine. It was a simple spaghetti that tasted wonderfully light and tasty with a combination of tomatoes, and chili, served with fried garlicky prawns and rocket leaves on top.

"Prawn

Raspberry and Chocolate Rippled Pavlova, IDR 95K

My good friend, Michelle, who lives in Bali, recommended me to try the Pavlova, her favorite dessert at Jamie’s Italian. We tried it and it was really good! The crunchy-chewy meringue base dessert beautifully presented and served with mascarpone cream, peppered raspberries, and smashed honeycomb with a drizzle of Dark Chocolate on top. All the combinations were a bit too sweet for my personal preference, but the meringue was nice and crispy, great for summer days.

Overall, we were quite satisfied with our lunch experience at Jamie’s Italian. Pleasant ambiance, friendly staff, quick service, good food, but overpriced. All prices that I mentioned above haven’t included with the 21% service charge and government tax.
