Can you figure out, how many new restaurants and coffee shops that opened in last December 2015 and earlier this month, January 2016? I do not know exactly how many, and I think I cannot count them anymore! Ha-ha.. But anyway, if you’re looking for new places to visit, then you are reading the right article. We recently visited this newly opened Shiraku Soba restaurant when we were in PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk) area and were looking for lunch. Shiraku Soba has a comfy atmosphere and a fun interior with cute mural drawings on the wall.

The big Japanese cat (Maneki Neko) mural in front of the restaurant seemed to want to call on everyone who passes this area to come in and try to find out what’s inside the restaurant. Yup, it happened to us! Ha-ha..

"Cute "Ambiance

More cute murals spotted on the second floor! Kawaii-desu..

Representing the name suggests, Shiraku Soba offers Japanese cuisines but focusing on Soba and Donburi when I looked at their menu. There are several appetizers such as yakitori, gyoza, kara-age, etc. that’s available, but we decided just to try Buta Tan-Tan Soba and Chashu Don, which looked appealing on the menu.

Pomegranate Green Tea, IDR 28K (Free 1x Refill)

Instead of ordering the normal ocha, I was tempted to try something different. We tried the Pomegranate Green Tea which is a combination of green tea, green rooibos, Rosehip, Pomegranate, and Organic compliant flavoring. The tea smelled so good and tasted so comforting!

From the Soba sections, we can choose our favorite noodles; either Soba or Ramen. Of course, we opted-in to Soba. The Buta Tan-Tan Soba is their recommendation, and unlike udon, the soba noodles are thinner and mostly tasted like regular noodles with a slightly nutty flavor. The shoyu and tan-tan tare gave a good flavor to the overall noodle, and it wasn’t spicy at all. We also enjoyed the sliced pieces of tender roast pork and perfectly soft-boiled egg with a beautiful golden molten center, served with chopped spring onions, sesame seeds, and dried seaweed as well. If you’re a fan of spicy food, you can add chili powder to tickle your taste buds.

Chashu Don, IDR 38.5K (non halal)

Although this donburi looked simple, both of us liked it much better than the soba above! The chashu shines as the star, it was so tasty and flavorful! The combination of delicious sliced roast pork that has been marinated in special sauce served on top of a bowl of steamed rice easily made us fall in love. The roast pork was deliciously moist and tender, topped off with a lovely sunny side up egg, chopped spring onions, sesame seeds, and dried seaweed.

Overall, good food, nice ambiance, friendly service, and reasonable prices, we liked it! If you are already a fan of soba noodles, you can try Shiraku Soba and don’t forget to try the Chashu Don too! Psst, they also have some interesting options on the menu, such as Gyutan Don, Chicken Teriyaki Soba, Gyuniku Teriyaki Soba, Gyutan Soba, Tori Katsu Kare Soba, etc.
