No. 1: NASI AYAM CHEE MENG – HALAL<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Nasi Ayam Chee Meng<\/strong> is located in Bukit Bintang area (Kuala Lumpur)<\/strong> and they’re quite popular for local Malaysians. Not just because the price is cheap, but the food is also delicious! As the name implies, the specialties of the dish offered is Chicken Rice<\/strong>, available in two choices: we can choose Steamed Chicken or Roasted Chicken<\/strong>.
\nWe opted for the Steamed Chicken<\/strong> and ordered Nasi Ayam Chicken Breast<\/strong> and one serving of Nasi Ayam Chicken Thighs<\/strong>. The rice and soup were okay, but the chicken meat was so thick, tender, and not dry at all! The selected chicken was directly cut into pieces and served with a splash of soy sauce, which made them look like any other Hainan Chicken Rice. Good portions, and good food, with only RM10 (IDR 35K) per serving, we got rice and lots of chicken<\/strong>. Ah Koong Restaurant<\/strong> is a well-known fish ball noodle specialist<\/strong> not only in Malaysia but also in Singapore. The place is quite crowded when we came that morning at 10 am for breakfast, and it can get very crowded during rush hour. We visited the first outlet of Ah Koong Restaurant located in Pudu area, Kuala Lumpur<\/strong>, and this outlet is not pork-free (Non-Halal)<\/strong>. But for Muslim friends, do not worry, because you can still enjoy their fish noodles at some of the free pork (Halal) branches available at some malls in Kuala Lumpur; 1 Main, Tropicana City Mall, Evolve Concept Mall, Main Place, and Damansara City Mall<\/strong>. When you order, you can choose the noodles; from yellow noodles, Kway Teow, green noodles, or vermicelli (mee hoon). Of course, we came here to buy Fishball Noodles (soup version, RM8.50 – equal to IDR 30K)<\/strong> that comes with fresh fish balls and fries, pork balls, hotcakes, seaweed, lettuce, and a few bits of fish pasta floating in a clear soup. Although simple, the clear soup is delicate and very tasty! We also ordered Curry Laksa Mee Hoon (RM9, equal to IDR 31.5K)<\/strong>, which came with similar toppings, and a few extra shellfish, but the laksa curry soup was really tasty and tasted a bit spicy! I personally loved the Laksa version, but my husband loved his clear soup the most! If you like sour drinks, try Sour Plum Juice (RM3.90, equal to IDR 13.7K)<\/strong> because of the sour plum tasted quite thick and it’s very refreshing! Lot 10 Hutong<\/strong> is known as Kuala Lumpur’s most famous hawker stalls all under one roof<\/strong>. There are 34 different food stalls that offer mouth-watering street food and are arranged like in a maze-like structure. Among them all, we decided to try this stall: Penang Char Kway Teow from Penang’s Famous Char Kway Teow and Prawn Mee stall, known as one of the best CKT in KL<\/strong>. We opted for their signature Duck Egg Fried Kway Teow (RM13.50, equal to IDR 47K)<\/strong>; it was so fragrant and tastier compared to other street food vendors; served with cockles, Chinese sausage, generous lard bits and big prawn on top. It was less greasy, and tasted so good! We also ordered the herbal Bak Kut Teh<\/strong> from the nearest stall, Pin Qian Klang Bak Kut Teh<\/strong>. The herbal soup was delicious, while the pork ribs were as tender as expected! The price is higher than street food vendors, and this place is more touristy than other places. Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea & Coffee<\/strong> has been around for decades at Imbi Market, but now they have renovated this area – it’s cleaner, bigger, and more comfortable than ever – located at the new ICC Pudu<\/strong>, and they are very famous by the locals with their Hainan Tea, Kaya Toast, and soft boiled eggs!<\/strong> No wonder this place was very busy since morning, oh my gosh! For the drink, we opted for cold Hainan Tea (RM2.40, equal to IDR 8.5K)<\/strong>, and absolutely like it! The smooth texture of milk tea beneath bubbly foam comes with a strong aromatic flavor but not overpowering. We also tried the Signature Kaya Butter Toast (crisp texture on the outside) and Bun (choose this if you like soft and pillowy texture) – RM2.40 each, equal to IDR 8.5K<\/strong>. Both of them were stuffed with homemade kaya, boosted by butter and margarine, oh so good! Not to forget, we also ordered soft boiled eggs<\/strong>. I was told by the waiter to wait for 5 minutes to get a nice runny egg texture. Simple, and classic local food, all of them is very cheap too, we loved this experience! KOH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nWhile you’re here, don’t forget to order some popiah from the famous Sisters Crispy Popiah (existed since 1985)<\/strong>, located inside Kedai Kopi Ah Weng Koh, open from 6.30am to 1.30pm daily.<\/strong>. Each popiah is priced at RM3 (equal to IDR 10.5K)<\/strong>, which is considered very cheap for us, and for the locals too. They made everything by themselves including the soft skin spring rolls, where each roll comes with homemade sweet sauce, chili sauce, turnip, cucumber, carrot, crispy biscuits, and egg. It was quite difficult to find this place because the front store is slightly closed in position with a street food vendor selling Apem Balik (Martabak). Since they’re famous for its Char Siew Wantan Mee<\/strong>, we ordered that but the waiter told us that they ran out of char siew (roast pork). It was a bit disappointing at first, but then we chose the chicken as recommended by them. Surprisingly, the chicken was very tender, a typical like Hainanese chicken; juicy and not dry at all<\/strong>! The springy noodles were evenly coated with aromatic dark soy sauce, and onion oil; nice texture, and flavorful. We tried the dry one, and it came with some dumplings along with the soup on the side. The price is very affordable, can’t remember exactly but it cost around 6-8RM\/plate (equal to IDR 28K)<\/strong>. It’s easy to find this place, as Tapak Urban Street Dining is located just 10 minutes walk from the Petronas KLCC<\/strong>. Here you can find a modern variation of traditional hawker food, and most of them sell burgers, fries, drinks, rice bowl, pasta, etc. We spotted this “Sailor” food truck<\/strong> among them all that seemed to be getting so many customers ordered from them, so we decided to give it a try. The Beef Steak (RM12.90, equal to IDR 45K)<\/strong> is made of ground beef patties, and surprisingly it was moist and melts in your mouth. The sauce on top tasted a bit spicy but so delicious! We opted for their Signature Dry Curry Wantan Noodle with Triple Meat (RM15.90, equal to IDR 55K)<\/strong> which comes with 3 different meat, from siew yuk (roast pork), char siew and roast chicken<\/strong>. The springy noodles were thin like Hongkong noodle, but it’s so tasty thanks to the curry sauce on top. What we liked the most was the texture of the roast pork which was marinated with five-spice powder and other ingredients<\/strong>, roasted in a charcoal-fed Apollo oven; succulent meat, melt-in-your-mouth texture, and crunchy crackling skin when we bite it! been searching for this Ramly Burger<\/strong> every time we visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia<\/strong>, and so glad that we finally found their stall on this trip!! Located close to the newly opened Starling Mall, Brader John Burger<\/strong> which is located at Uptown Damansara seems to have a huge burger fan! We arrived at 10 pm after the mall closed and saw so many customers queuing in front of the food truck (located opposite Tsujiri and RHB Bank)<\/strong>. Fortunately, they just opened at 10 pm<\/strong>, so the line wasn’t too long. Yay! We ordered MASTER Beef Burger (2 slices of meat + 2 cheese + 1 egg for RM11, equal to IDR 38.5K)<\/strong> for supper and had to wait 30 minutes. We don’t mind, coz I must say this burger was one of the best street burgers we’ve ever had so far! The seasoned – two pieces of the juicy beef patty is placed on top of the egg base with oozed melted cheese, a bit spicy thanks to the chili powder, and served with generous amount of their own special black pepper sauce, plus extra mayonnaise and mustard. It was absolutely scrumptious, mouth-watering, and full of flavor! It’s full of porky goodness, highly recommended! But the only downside is the waiting time is very long because the owner cooks everything on his own – one by one, so the waiting time varies from 30mins-1hr 30mins to 2 hours<\/strong>. I was told to visit this place by my friends, and some of my followers who have visited this place too, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was packed and there’s a long queue outside the restaurant even though it’s already 9 pm. Here, everyone can’t share their banana leaf, so it’s mandatory for each customer to place an order!<\/strong> To order, first thing is you decide the rice: whether you want white rice or Briyani Rice, then order Vegetable Meal Set (RM 9.50, equal to IDR 33K)<\/strong>, and then you add the side dishes. The set consists of free-flow rice that comes with three types of vegetables (cucumber salad, fried cabbage, and the best, fried bitter gourd)<\/strong>, papadum, rasam, pickle and a choice of curry or dhall. If you ask for an additional serving of vegetables, additional charges may apply.<\/p>\nFor side dishes, We really enjoyed the Fried Mackerel (Fish Tenggiri RM14, equal to IDR 49K)<\/strong>, and the Chicken Masala (RM7, equal to IDR 24K)<\/strong>, both of them were so good; chunky, tender, and flavorful! I highly recommend you to try the Chicken Briyani rice (RM15, equal to IDR 52K)<\/strong> instead of plain rice, because apparently it also comes with a pretty big of chicken thigh in curry sauce. They also drizzled the rice with a mixture of curry sauce as we requested, and it made our dish become even tastier! For the drink, we ordered Teh “O” (RM1.20, equal to IDR 4K)<\/strong>, and Limau Ice just like everyone else (RM2, equal to IDR 7K)<\/strong>. We’re satisfied and would love to come back again to Sri Nirwana Banana Leaf<\/strong> next time! With the add-ons and drinks, our total bill = RM51.65 (equal to IDR 180K), so each person would spend at least 25RM per person.<\/strong> It’s not cheap anyway, but worth the visit! <img This place is known as the famous banana fritters for locals in Kuala Lumpur<\/strong>, Malaysia<\/strong>. Just 5-minutes walk from KL Central Station<\/strong>; we easily see their food stall which is located opposite the YMCA, and there’s a lot of people queuing there. We bought three pieces of banana fritters (RM1.30 each, equal to IDR 4.5K)<\/strong>, and we absolutely liked it! The banana was so crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. What makes it special is because they only use the King Bananas (Pisang Raja). Pssst<\/em>, before we left for Kuala Lumpur<\/strong> to Bangkok<\/strong>, we visited this stall again and bought the banana fritters again! We heard that this place is popular with their Pork Chops<\/strong> and Roti Babi<\/strong>. When we arrived at 5.30pm, the restaurant was closed already. Lucky us, the owner realized we’re tourists and let us order some food. Yeay! Ha-ha.. We ordered Pork Chops (RM12.50, equal to IDR 43K)<\/strong> and Chicken Chops (RM10.50, equal to IDR 37K)<\/strong> where both come with a similar presentation. The pork chops and chicken chops were deep fried and covered in brown gravy, served with roast potatoes and some frozen vegetables. The texture of the sauce and presentation reminds me of the Egg foo yong (in Jakarta, we often called it Puyunghai). They were delicious, but for me, the Chicken Chops<\/strong> was juicier than the Pork Chops<\/strong>. The gravy sauce was lacking flavor, but it’s probably the old school taste that people search from Yut Kee<\/strong>. We also tried Roti Babi (RM10, equal to IDR 35K)<\/strong>, which is well known there, but this one did not impress me. It contained chopped pork meat with some onions; nice, but too greasy. From the bread, they offered us to try the Kaya Roll (RM1.10\/piece, equal to IDR 4K)<\/strong>. The toasted bread served with homemade coconut kaya jam, and I liked it! For drinks, you should try their Kopi Charm (iced coffee mix with tea, RM2.50, equal to IDR 9K)<\/strong>, it tasted really good! We came here 2 years ago when we traveled in June 2016 to KL<\/strong>, and luckily it wasn’t too crowded because we came after the rush hour. We ordered the famed Village Park Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng (RM9, equal to IDR 32K)<\/strong>, Roti Kukus (RM2.50, equal to IDR 9K)<\/strong>, and chose Ice Soya Bean (RM2.90, equal to IDR 10K)<\/strong> for the drink. We really enjoyed the nasi lemak (coconut rice) because it’s not only fragrant, it tasted good as it looks. And surprisingly, the fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and not greasy, best eaten with their traditional chili paste (sambal). Since the restaurant is quite far, I recommend you to take grab car. We tried the dry pan mee (also available in soup version), a bowl of mixed meatball soup, and some drink. The portion was small, but we’re satisfied with its taste, especially after we mixed the noodle with lots of chili sauce. They served the noodle with flavorful minced pork, fried anchovies, and a perfectly cooked poached egg. Remember, you gotta help yourself to serve the chili on your own (available separately on all the table) to suit your level of spiciness; 1 or 2 tablespoons is enough for me. Ha-ha… I found the chili was cooked, so fragrant, and pretty spicy, you’ll get addicted, trust me! If you like meatballs, don’t forget to get the fish ball and pork ball soup<\/strong>, because it was delicious as well, came together with Fu Chuk (Bean Curd Skin).
