1. Sornthong Pochana Restaurant

If you’re in Bangkok (Thailand) and looking for quality, pocket-friendly seafood, Sornthong Pochana is worth trying. This family-run restaurant has been in business for more than 20 years. No wonder if this restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide Thailand because they’ve maintained their reputation ever since. It’s a bit difficult to find a parking space because the restaurant is on the side of the road. Still, we can find it by looking at the busy crowd under the large yellow signboard in Thai and Chinese languages.

Sornthong Pochana offers a wide variety of Thai-Chinese style seafood and using only fresh ingredients for every customer. We can’t resist their signature Fried Crab with Curry and Egg, it was so delicious! The crab was so big, sweet, fresh, and perfectly cooked, served with a generous amount of shred eggs and curry sauce, but it will be better if it can be a bit spicier. A must try! ""

Another favorite is their Pork Satay, which is served with peanut sauce. The satay came in large size too, and it tasted more like Penang style satay. Do not miss their buttery Fried Scallop served with generous fried garlic. If you like an oyster, we recommend you to order Fried Oyster with Omelette. The oyster was fresh, not smelly at all, served with generous bean sprouts, and smooth eggs on a hot plate. Last but not least, you gotta try their Mango Sticky Rice for desserts. Same like the main courses, they served generous sticky rice and fresh mangoes, it’s so good!

Overall, this is one of the best seafood I’ve ever tasted in Bangkok, and all the flavors are balanced. The price is not too cheap, but the quality is there. Tips: don’t come late as you might have to wait for a table if you arrive after 7:00 pm!
