Glad to know there is a new Dessert House and Bistro in Sunter area (nearby to my parent’s house), here is Kamo Kuma Jakarta which we visited last Sunday right after we celebrated my Mother’s birthday at Sate Khas Senayan. This newly opened dessert house has been opened for five days and is located behind the Holiday Inn Hotel Kemayoran or behind the Food Centrum Sunter. There is not much seating available on the first floor, but I already feel comfortable with the atmosphere once I step into this place. A playful color such as yellow, mix with black and light green color in the cafe creates a fun and cozy ambiance for everyone to visit. Lots of cute big cups are used as a decorative hanging lamp in the cafe. It looks nice and unique! Don’t you think so? 😀
Cake and Pudding display on the first floor.
We chose to sit upstairs, which is wider and nicer than the first floor. The minimalist sofa combined with a uniquely shaped wooden chair that I rarely find anything like this in other cafes. Although the shape of the wooden chairs seems strange, but it feels good when we’re sitting on it.
The Kamo Kuma Dessert House offers a wide variety of desserts such as Kuma Bowl, Kamocktail, Kuma Yoghurt, and Kamo Parfait. We’ve tried some of them, Kiiro Kamocktail and Kamo Coffee Parfait where both are their recommendations.
Kiiro Kamocktail, IDR 30K
A pretty big cup filled with shaved ice and covered with some black ball made of tapioca (here in Jakarta we called it as Boba), peach fruit, mango jelly, and nata de coco. It is topped with vanilla ice cream, served with passion syrup. All the toppings mix with the syrup made this dessert tastes fresh and fun.
Kamo Coffee Parfait, IDR 30K
Sometimes a cup of coffee just isn’t enough for a day. Well, let’s try something different! A mixture of coffee pudding, corn flakes, cake, vanilla and coffee ice cream, wafer and cookies, caramel sauce, Mochi, and the coffee ball gave a great pleasure for my tummy. I liked this one because the coffee ice cream tasted really good, and all the combination complements one another.
We also tried some cakes, such as the Dome cake and Milo cake. Make sure you try both of this cake when you visit Kamo Kuma. An amazing dome shaped cake with vanilla sponge, smooth chocolate mousse, rum, and covered with rich dark chocolate on the outside. While the Milo cake also tastes great; chocolate cake with layers of chocolate mousse and crunchy coco crunch inside the layer. We loved both so much!!
Dome Cake and Milo Cake, IDR 55K each
For the drinks, they have a lot of options such as Coffee, Iced Tea, Iced Fruit Tea, Iced Milk Tea, Smoothies, Yakult, Frappe, Hot Tea and Soft Drinks. If you want something light and not too sweet, try their Lychee Green Tea, Green Apple Tea, or Strawberry Green Tea (all Fruit Tea @IDR 18K). But if you prefer something sweet in your drink, you can try the Thai Iced Tea (IDR 18K). Yakult Kiwi (IDR 21K) and Vietnamese Iced Milk Coffee (25K) also recommended.
From the top to bottom – left to right; Lychee Green Tea, Thai Iced Tea, Yakult Kiwi, Green Apple Tea, Strawberry Green Tea, and Vietnamese Iced Milk Coffee.
Not only desserts, but you can also find lots of savory meals (heavy meals and light meals) before enjoying your desserts. Aglio Olio, Chicken Noodle, Kalbi Bowl, Basil Chicken Bowl, etc. are some example of heavy food that you can try at Kamo Kuma. We were tempted to try some of the light meals, Okonomiyaki Fries and Spring Roll on a stick, even though we’re full already after lunch that day.
Spring Roll on a stick, IDR 25K (6 pcs)
A typical of Asian vegetable spring roll filled with vegetables and chicken meat served with sweet chili sauce. Simple, crispy and tasty!
Okonomiyaki Fries, IDR 25K
A unique combination of regular french fries served with okonomiyaki sauce and thin slices of crispy seaweed on top. The taste was enjoyable, and we couldn’t stop eating the fries.
Well, overall, all of us really enjoyed all the snacks, drinks, and desserts. This is something new in Sunter area, great for kids and adults to chill out with friends or relatives. If you’re around North Jakarta and for dessert lovers out there, I recommend you to visit the Kamo Kuma Dessert House and Bistro.
