Situated on the lower ground floor of Lippo Mall Puri, Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ Restaurant, a Japanese food chain restaurant which originated from Japan, is finally opened here in Jakarta. The first outlet was opened at the AEON Mall last year, and recently they held a Grand Opening of their new branch at Lippo Mall Puri. Set in a minimalist setting, comfortable, and spacious room, Gyu-Kaku (means, “Horn of the Bull”) Japanese BBQ Restaurant offers authentic Japanese Yakiniku (barbecue) where diners can experience and share premium cooked meats over a flaming charcoal grill.
Featuring unlimited menu ranging from meats, appetizers, salad, vegetable, fried food, seafood, soup, noodle, and rice, Gyu-Kaku can be a good deal when it comes to all-you-can-eat buffet. The AYCE menu is very popular, with IDR 398.000,- ++ for adult, and IDR 298.000,-++ for child/senior (before the 10% tax and 5% service charge), diners can enjoy the buffet menu only for 90 minutes at each table. The restaurant will give customers extra charge for any wastage of the food and for every 30 minutes extension time.
Gyu-Kaku Indonesia offers a variety of meats including the AUS Wagyu, Gyu-Kaku Karubi, Karubi, Sirloin and Beef Tongue. So of course, we ordered all of them! With a personal grill installed at each table, we couldn’t help ourselves not to do the hands-on cooking, and grilled all the meat at our very own table. The sizzling sound from thin slices of succulent beef cooked on top of grid stainless steel, made a fun grilling experience! From all the meat, my most favorite was the AUS Wagyu, Karubi, and the Short Rib (Gyu-Kaku Karubi). The garlic rice was nice, and the Gyoza was nicely fried although nothing outstanding.
In addition to their premium beef, we also enjoyed some chicken meat, especially the Cheese Fondue Chicken. We rolled the chicken with melted mozzarella cheese and loved it! Not only that, but we also enjoyed wrapping any of the grilled items with the Sanchu Wrap (crisp green leaf lettuce wrappers) together with garlic, and some dipping sauces that’s available on the table.
Last but not least, we finished off the heavy meals with two desserts on the menu; Gyu-Kaku Ice Cream and Signature Milk Pudding. Both desserts gave way to a wonderful ending for us, and we are pleased with our dining experience at this restaurant. Thank you Gyu-Kaku Indonesia for having us at the Grand Opening! If you’re craving for an all-you-can-eat Japanese BBQ, you should check out this spot!
