[NEW SPOT] Honu Poke & Matcha Bar: Hawaiian-Japanese Bowls

If you are a fan of Salmon and Tuna, we have good news for you! Situated in the Kemang neighborhood, there’s Honu Poke and Matcha Bar specializing in serving Hawaiian-Japanese bowls. We realized they took over the place which is formerly Atavola Restaurant, and the bright green color on their walls made us easier to find them! The place itself is quite small, with a separated area (non-smoking and smoking area) and the toilet is at the back of the smoking room. And the parking lot itself is very limited!

Although it was small, the place was surprisingly cozy and more casual, suitable as a place to hang out, make a small discussion or having a meal with friends. An open kitchen, the waitress in Hawaiian t-shirt, and some classic poke menu will surely please your taste buds, because yes, the food here was yummy and I found the matcha latte interesting. There are only 5 poke bowls menu available at HONU, and because we went there after lunch, we decided just to order Two & Two Poke Bowl

(IDR 75K regular size / IDR 50K small size), and Iced Matcha Latte (IDR 35K). Poke is not a new thing, but somehow it’s back again this year as a new trend. Poke is basically Hawaiian favorite food which is made from raw fish, cut into cubes, which can be eaten on its own, or over a bowl of sushi rice. Well, here, at HONU, we can choose the rice, either sushi white rice or brown rice.

Two & Two Poke Bowls that we had in the regular size was quite filling. It consisted of my favorite salmon and tuna, with a creamy sauce, wakame, lettuce, carrots, and tempura crunch. As simple as that, but all the combinations made my dish looks colorful! Both fish were tasty, and the other ingredients were pretty fresh as well. Overall, the poke bowl was so delicious, and healthy all in ONE bowl! While the Iced Matcha Latte were so delicious and tasted so refreshing without being overly sweet nor too creamy! If I am ever craving poke again, I will come back here!
