[NEW] Grand Cafe New Buffet Concept at Grand Hyatt Jakarta

Ever feeling bored with the same activities over and over again? Why not come to Grand Cafe at Grand Hyatt Jakarta? Yes, as you saw from my Instastory last week, the Grand Hyatt Jakarta Hotel presents the latest concept of Grand Cafe to give visitors a brand new dining experience, unlike before. We’re grateful to be part of the Grand Opening night of Grand Cafe on May 14, 2018, which located on the lobby level of Grand Hyatt Jakarta Hotel. As one of the top all-day dining casual restaurants in Jakarta, I must say that I was very impressed with the new face of Grand Cafe at Grand Hyatt Jakarta; now the decoration is more elegant with the nuances of the colonial-style house of Indonesia.

As you can see here from my pictures, the seating area is more spacious and more comfortable now, and it feels like home! The wood material becomes the dominant element, and you can find many Indonesian carvings and ceramics that emphasize the distinctive aspects of Indonesian-Peranakan. Each area is designed like the spaces at home, and they divided the seating area into seven different areas; from the terrace, living room, gallery, kitchen, lounge, study room, to balcony. Interesting!

The kitchen area becomes a central area where visitors can see the live presentation by the chef from 5 live cooking stations (wok, grill, soup, steam, and pastry) and showing their skills in front of the visitors. Of course, this concept allows us to see and know how to cook the food, interact directly with the chef, and we can even customize our order because everything here is made to order! From Sop Buntut (oxtail soup), Bakso (meatballs), Mie Ayam (noodle), Martabak Sapi, etc, we can find lots of classic Indonesian food in the kitchen. And since it’s buffet style, we can take everything that we want. Yay!

We hopped across all the stations and tried almost everything, from the Oxtail Soup, Bebek Betutu, some classic Indonesian meat dishes such as Beef Rendang, Chicken Satay, Sate Maranggi, Fried Rice, etc. Every dish is freshly made, so flavorful, and most of them tasted like home-cooked dishes. We can also find traditional delicacies and favorites, where freshly made cakes, traditional snacks, Asinan, rujak, gado-gado, etc are also available here. Make sure to try their Asinan Kecombrang and some homemade ice cream before you leave this place; the Aceh Gayo Espresso Ice Cream, Durian Ice Cream, Single Origin Chocolate Ice Cream, and Mango Sorbet was all so good and refreshing!

Overall, it was a great buffet dinner experience, and we enjoyed everything at the newly renovated Grand Cafe, Grand Hyatt Jakarta. Whether you are there for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can always enjoy the Indonesian home-style dining in a comfy and relaxing vibe with good music playing. Booking in advance is recommended!
