K11 MUSEA – The Must Visit Destination in Hong Kong

When I recovered and felt well after my trip back from Hong Kong, I wanted to make a quick post about our trip to Hong Kong because it was a cool place to visit and which I thought should be on everyone’s list. Although we’ve been to Hong Kong many times, still, there is something new to discover. Say like the new K11 MUSEA, Asia’s most forward-thinking cultural-retail destination set in the heart of Hong Kong’s Victoria Dockside. Inspired to be “A Muse by the Sea,” K11 MUSEA is designed to enrich the everyday life of the modern consumer. That’s why, once we stepped in, this place feels like true inspiration. We quickly find the beautiful artful design in every corner of K11 MUSEA, because this place brings in immersive experiences in retail, world-class art collection, culture, entertainment, and gastronomy, all under one roof. K11 MUSEA is full of charm! I’ve put together these highlights below in hopes that your trip to Hong Kong will be filled with fun as we are. Don’t forget to share this post with your friends and family. Happy travels!

Things to do at K11 MUSEA

Conceived and created by Adrian Cheng, Founder of K11 Group and Executive Vice-Chairman of New World Development, K11 MUSEA draws on the collective expertise of over 100 creative powers to create a space for creativity, culture, and innovation to thrive. I must say, as Asia’s new cultural destination, K11 MUSEA is impressive, to invite global millennials can come together and discover their muse! With its cool concept, you can find cool restaurants of international brands of f&b, fashion shops, MoMA design store, big cinema, Donut Playhouse, Nature Park Discovery, etc. And since this place is huge, I suggest you wear comfortable shoes because you will spend the whole day once you are here. So many good vibes filled with art and culture, and so many different zones in K11 MUSEA, you can find your muse and do lots of OOTD photo shots that fits your passion.

At the very heart of K11 MUSEA lies the Gold Ball, a huge, shining, spherical chamber crafted from a shimmering triangular latticework, floating in the Atrium. The Gold Ball works as a multi-dimensional art installation and an event space while the two oculi in the roof of the Atrium allow natural daylight to shine through. It looks like the designers of the 33-meter-tall grand Atrium got inspiration from the classic cathedral. And the architect firm in charge of the mall’s interior lighting—Speirs + Major—is the same one who revamped St. Paul Cathedral’s lighting design. No wonder it’s so beautiful, even when we see it at night! Even more impressive, local artists and carpenters manually handcraft each of the copper stripes on the interior wall. They resemble a sprawling roots system and paint them in a wood-like color. When I look at the whole design, it feels like watching a Galaxy of Creativity! Amazing!!

For the Millennials: OOTD spot around K11 MUSEA

Are you trying to achieve an artsy and fun-inspired OOTD? K11 MUSEA is the place to be. Even all the ladies’ toilets are all designed in different themes. Wherever you go, you will find various public artworks on display, and some of them can interact with you.

For Families: Donut Playhouse & A Green Day Out

K11 MUSEA offers plenty for families to do which includes the multi-story Donut Playhouse (an oval-shaped glasshouse with an oversized Donut—a cartoon character—sculpture fitted with a 10-meter-high slide inside) filled with family-friendly edutainment and shops. You can also find a large 9-metre peacock climbing frame and tubular slide, designed by Denmark’s award-winning playground designers Monstrum. If you love nature, don’t forget to find Nature Discovery Park. It’s a rooftop garden that has a carefully curated selection of plants that will attract butterflies naturally.

For the hungry shoppers:

Avobar

Regardless of whether you like avocados or not, don’t miss Avobar, a famous London restaurant that highlights avocados as the main ingredient of all-day dishes, brunch favorites, and drinks! We tried several meals, and Avo Bun Lobster became one of our favorite dishes. They replaced the buns by fresh avocados, served with delicious chunks of lobster, sharp mangoes, passion fruit, tabasco mayo, and celery lettuce on the side. Attractive, healthy, and filling!

Afternoon Tea TEAROOM

From Japan to Hong Kong, the Japanese food chain that started their business in 1981, Afternoon Tea TEAROOM, now opens its first overseas branch in Hong Kong, located at K11 MUSEA. This restaurant that already has 87 branches in Japan is famous for their pasta dishes, sandwiches, delicious cakes, black tea, as well as the popular (and customizable) afternoon tea set. You can’t miss out on this one! Our favorite menus: <Afternoon Tea Set ($ 168HKD and opt for Mont-Blanc cake, and Strawberry Shortcake), Iced Chardonnay Darjeeling Tea ($ 68HKD), Hot Sweet Fruit Tea ($ 78HKD)

BAEKMIDANG Chul Grill

Baekmidang’s newest baby is BAEKMIDANG Chul Grill, a dining space with a store-in-store concept at K11 MUSEA. Their specialty is set to feature barbecue meat on a Korean cast-iron grill with Grilled Korean Minsok Hanwoo (beef strip loin with grilled vegetables) as the star of the show, and kimchi mung bean pancake. Even though the restaurant is tiny and the seating is limited, diners can easily watch how they cook through the open kitchen. The meat is very tender and cooked to the right level of maturity, and the Kimchi Fried Rice is so good, highly recommended!

Gontran Cherrier

Have you heard that one of the top-ranked French bakeries in the world, Gontran Cherrier, is coming to K11 MUSEA? What makes them unique is that they use their own flour and butter imported from France. We had the opportunity to understand better and to feel the difference between two different types of flour that they’re using. We also attended a special session with Ms. Nana, a representative of the famous Gontran Cherrier, French Bakery. During this delightful one-hour cooking class session, we learned to make their iconic croissants and how to shape our pastries perfectly. And after the class, we tried some of the best-selling products, but my personal favorite among them was the Ham and Cheese croissants, which were filled with gruyere cheese and Pacdon Park ham! Oh, it’s so good!

Curator by Lex Cafe

For coffee and tea lovers, you can try an exceptional coffee that comes with art on it. The Curator by Lex Cafe brings creativity closer to daily life by displaying some of the limited-edition artworks in the store and selling them to customers. So, if you could print one artwork on your drink, what picture would you like to print? For me, because I’m a big fan of Doraemon, the Japanese cat, we ordered this — an artsy print Chocolate with Dokodemo Door by Murakami. Drinks are available in two choices; chocolate-based or coffee-based.

HEYTEA Lab

As for you, tea lovers, especially for you, lovers of HEYTEA, good news! Now HEYTEA has a new concept, HEYTEA Lab, which is exclusive and only available one in each city. So, if you want to try something new and innovative, where your favorite tea is mixed with alcohol, fruits, herbs, etc, find HEYTEA Lab at K11 MUSEA. Best of all, in this store, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Victoria Harbour (this could be your next OOTD spot!)

Baekmidang Milk Ice Cream

I love milk. And ever since I tried Baekmidang, a popular organic milk soft serve in Seoul, I love their ice cream. Born from a parent company, Namyang Dairy Products, Baekmidang claims that everything is made with 100% organic milk directly from the farm; no wonder the taste of the ice cream somewhat is a bit different. It’s so creamy, smooth, and milky; overall, it’s just great! As for the lactose intolerant, they have an alternative to soy milk. This is the perfect stop for an after-lunch bite for those with a sweet tooth.

DAMA Vegan Ice Cream

Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, I bet you’ll love DAMA! DAMA, which is founded in 2016, serving all-vegan desserts. At the moment, they only have two flavors of soft-serve ice cream, so we mixed them: Red Dragon Fruit and Black Bamboo Charcoal Ice Cream with Coconut Flavor (super unique). Both flavors were so delicious; I can taste real fruit from it, slightly sweet, smooth, and so refreshing! Not only instagramable but also a healthy option for dessert lovers!

Stay at K11 ARTUS

There’s no word to describe the entire stay at K11 ARTUS, but everything was excellent. K11 ARTUS is Asia’s first artisanal home with comprehensive hotel services for cultural creatives and intellectuals. Located at Victoria Dockside, the new global art and design district at the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, ARTUS guests can enjoy panoramic views of Victoria Harbour, like the one in my pictures below. Not only breathtaking views to the harbor, but every corner is tastefully designed, creating a space that is more than a boutique hotel; I feel like home. Snacks, drinks in the fridge, coffee, and artisan tea, all of them are complimentary to guests. Nice, isn’t it? They also have a beautiful little kitchen, washing machine, exquisite decor, and premium amenities using Aesop brands; this all completes our stay at K11 ARTUS. And guess what? We can even WhatsApp the staff for any request. Overall,K11 ARTUS is standout from other top hotels in HK, perfect for short and more extended stays in Hong Kong.

Breakfast with a view at The Chamber

Yes! Every great morning starts off with a good breakfast, especially when it comes with a spectacular views like this! Although the breakfast options are not many, and we had to wait so long for them to prepare the food, most of the alternatives can satisfy our breakfast-food cravings throughout the day.
