[THAILAND] PB Valley Khao Yai Winery Tour

Do you like wine, or do you want to experience something different on your Thailand trip? I would recommend the PB Khao Yai Winery if you wish to an educational tour about grapes and wines, its sources, and the processes. We find it’s very easy to reach Khao Yai because it only takes 3 hours to drive from Bangkok. And when we arrived at Khao Yai on the first day, we decided to have lunch first at The Great Hornbill Grill, which offers Western & Thai specialties. We loved the chill and relaxing ambiance at this restaurant, especially with the beautiful view overseeing the vineyard from the window.

It’s interesting to see they have a variety of Thai and Western cuisines available on the menu. As recommended, we tried their signature appetizer, called Miang Bai Angun (Wine Leaves Thai Style), a Thai appetizer with a sweet touch from their vineyard. The combination of grated coconut, which tastes sweet, with fresh grapes from the fields, and crunchiness from the cashew nuts, it’s so yummy!

Our next favorite would be the full-size Pork Ribs glazed in honey and hoisin sauce with a hint of orange flavor on it. The pork meat was tender and flavorful! Not to forget, you should try the Signature Marinated Fried Chicken! The chicken is cut into small cubes, not too oily, served with fried lemongrass, and some elements from their vineyard. Everything was delicious!

For the tour, we take the last tour session available at 4 pm to avoid the hot sun (or you can choose the morning tour at 8:30 am), haha… Remember, you MUST book the tour in advance, and don’t be late, because the buggy will leave on time for your trip. The English-speaking guide also explained the process of making wine from grapes to the factory and showing us the method of storing wine in barrels.

Within an hour of the tour, we also got a chance to see the growth of the grapes this close, impressive! You can touch, and taking photos of the grapes, but DO NOT PICK THE GRAPES otherwise, you’ll get fine by them!

We love the wine tasting at the end of the tour, where they let us try 3 types of their different wine, including their bestseller, paired with cheese and crackers. If you have children, they will get some of the best tasting grape juice ever (trust me, you’ll love this too!). We ended up buying some snacks, and PB Shiraz 100% grape juice from their souvenir shop; it’s a must!
